  • Clerics inciting others to violence? And we're not even talking about Danish cartoons.

Zed brings us the information needed to build a better cleric in Dungeons & Dragons Online: Stormreach, and he insists clerics are more than simple healers.

Whilst clerics in DDO are still the primary healing class they offer much more versatility to a group. They are capable of buffing the entire party’s combat skills or other important ability scores, crowd control and even some powerful offensive spell casting. Plus, clerics can enter front line combat, hiding behind shield and heavy armour to aid the fighters in bringing down their foes.

  • All about Auto Assault and solo play!

This week's common content feature is all about solo play. Does Auto Assault support the solo gamer? Is solo gaming an effective approach? What are some examples of solo gaming? These questions and more are answered in our editorial "When no one Rides Shotgun!" We got into the full detail on solo gaming in Auto Assault.

One of the major things in any MMORPG that can ruin the gameplay for me is when there are never enough people around to do what needs to be done. The feeling of utter helplessness because there isn’t a group of adventurers around to help you advance through the game. Sitting in town and staring at walls isn’t my ideal vision of perfect gameplay. However, there are some MMORPGs who don’t follow the mold of group only play. They provide content for both the solo and social type player. Auto Assault is one of these games that allow most any style of player to have fun. The only difference is that Auto Assault has cars and guns instead of silly magic and swords!

  • Going it Alone in Ascalon

No, I don't mean the bachelor lifestyle. I'm talking about solo play in MMORPGs. How well does Guild Wars hold up in the genre? Can a massively multiplayer game really cater to your inner hermit?

The henchmen are one of the things that sets Guild Wars apart in the MMORPG genre. Thoughtfully placed near the exit of every town, they’re a viable option. Sure, a real player has autonomy, can react to change situations, and can be quicker with a Resurrection Signet, but the henchmen aren’t useless.

  • Is there anybody really out there in Azeroth?
World of Warcraft is one of the best MMO games out there for solo play. Read Messiah's editorial to see why being the best single player MMO may not be such a good thing after all.

There is no questioning that World of Warcraft is a brilliant game, from the amazing graphics to the amount of back story and questing involved in the game. There is one thing that seems to be lacking in WoW though. To understand it you need to understand that MMO is really short for Massively Multi-player Online Role Playing Game. Now I could go into the fact that very few role-play in the World of Warcraft, but I'm not that kind of player.
The part that bugs me the most is that the game is meant to be a multi-player game. This should not just mean that multiple players are in and playing at the same time. Part of the appeal of an MMO is that you build up a friend base in it and quest and adventure with them to mutual benefit, and that's the part that I really see lacking in WoW.

Our WoW @ TenTonHammer lead writer sounds off on solo content in World of Warcraft, and it wouldn't be a party without you!

  • Stormreach: Quest for Glory - Quest Journal #3

Excitement continues to build for Dungeons & Dragons: Stormreach, the next MMO in line to launch later this month (Feb. 28)! Ralsu and Shaylayn brave the sewers of Stormreach once again to rescue a young woman kidnapped by kobolds.

Shayalyn howled in pain from behind me. I wheeled around to see her squaring off against a kobold. Another was scampering out of one of the inoperable waterways. I focused my magic and began telling the second kobold about the room it was entering. I described a carnival, narrating the whole scene—clowns, freaks, and patrons—and the kobold froze in amazement. It was seeing the images I rendered.

  • I Just Want to be Left Alone...

Even Frodo told his beloved Samwise to bugger off a time or two. How will soloing play out in Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar (LotRO)? We don't know just yet, but we can speculate. Shayalyn gives her take on the solo playing style, and why she believes some solo content is necessary to the success of upcoming MMOGs.

Being a soloer doesn’t necessarily make me antisocial. It doesn’t mean that I don’t enjoy the company of others. What it means is that I enjoy the gratification of being able to handle my battles alone when I want to. It means that sometimes I have limited play time, and I want to make a little progress with my character without looking for a group. It doesn’t mean I want the rest of the world to go away. (Well, okay, I admit that I do have days where I want the world to go away, but those are few and far between.)

  • Is Soloing in DDO Possible?

Just how solo-friendly is Dungeons & Dragons Online? Is there a certain class/race combination that will excel at solo play? Darkgolem explores the possibilities in his editorial and draws one simple conclusion.

The difficulty levels of dungeons increase as you go along. As you advance, you run into more and more foes in encounters. Any dungeon master who creates their own adventures, and started with level 1 dungeons, can tell you it’s hard not to kill the adventurers when they begin. You place small amounts of weak enemies in adventures, and this principle applies to DDO just as well. But as you advance, this changes, and after a few levels, a group of adventurers can handle quite a bit.

When soloing in DDO, this will be the big problem you run into. Certainly you can handle the small amounts of foes at first, but after level 2, you will run into larger and larger amounts of foes. Soon, some of those foes can damage you fast enough that even when you’re killing them off as fast as you can, you are killed by the rest, whether by spell, arrow or sword.

  • So a priest and a TenTonHammer writer walk into a bar...

One of the best guides on our World of Warcraft @ TenTonHammer site has seen many updates over the past week. These updates include: additional build information, Updated and cleaned up tactics section, an updated equipment section, additional main page information, more detailed set item information and information on the level 60 quest to get Benediction / Anathema.

Priests in the World of Warcraft can come in two main flavours and hence the name of the guide "Many Priests. One Guide". The most common role, and one shared with most other MMO's is that of the main healer in a group. The other role of a Priest in WoW is to "Melt Faces!". That's correct, as well as being the best healer in the game, Priests in WoW can be some of the most deadly PvP players in the form of Shadow Priests. While Holy Priests specialize in talents that control the power of life over death, Shadow Priests specialize in the reverse, the death of all things living. This Guide will look at both aspects of a Priest in WoW, that of life and death.

So check out all the changes and updates to the World of Warcraft priest guide, only at WoW @ TenTonHammer.

  • The reputations section of World of Warcraft has been updated. Brood of Nozdormu

In the lives of most mortals, time is nothing more than a simple hourglass, its sands quietly trickling away. Only few ever realize that in truth, time rages like a storm, untamed and chaotic. When the Titans first descended on Azeroth, vanquishing the Old Gods and bringing order to the world, the Highfather of the Pantheon himself empowered the great dragon Nozdormu with some of his own cosmic powers, enabling the dragon to guard time itself and police the ever-spinning pathways of fate and destiny. And so, the stoic, honorable Nozdormu became known as the Timeless One. Ever since then, Nozdormu's Brood has guarded the timestream from all who would seek to disrupt its flow, guided by the Timeless One's wise, all-knowing counsel.

This is seriously the best World of Warcraft Community Site EVER!
