  • These Druids don't just stand around in a stone circle.

Our Vanguard site's newest writer and class specialist- longtime gamer Karen a.k.a. "Shayalyn"- showcases the Vanguard: Saga of Heroes take on the Fantasy MMOG staple: the Druid. How does Vanguard's version of these nature boys and girls stack up against the EverQuest mold?

I started pondering and reading more about the druid class as Sigil Games Online has envisioned it. When it comes to healing, to my knowledge, no Vanguard developer has openly stated that druids will completely lose the ability to heal. While we know their primary role is damage-dealing, perhaps they will also retain the regenerative abilities, roots, snares and some of the other things we’ve come to associate with the classic EverQuest-style druid. (Keep in mind this is all just speculation on my part as nothing has been announced yet.) Time will tell, and it’s certain that Sigil has some surprises in store for their vision of the new and improved druid.

  • Gilbert and Sullivan have nothing on these pirates

Flying Labs developers carried some of the questions about the end-of-year maritime MMOG "Pirates of the Burning Sea" home with them from PAX, and posted a Q&A thread along with new screens:

And now that people are coming back from PAX and writing about their experiences, there are lots of great questions and comments showing up on our forums that we wanted to take a moment to address. Most of these were questions, but there were a couple misunderstandings we wanted to clear up as well.

  • Why isn't it ever forged in the blinding light?
Those frisky members that frequent our Vanguard: Saga of Heroes site have created some fantastic fan fiction. A friend of a friend said that they wrote this:

"Smoke bellows through the branches of a lifeless forest.  The trails are damp with earth rot, as if a light mist had passed through.  A clear night sky peers down upon the land below.  Closer to the city - closer to life, the pungent smell of charred wood and roasted meat excites the air.  A dry heat consumes the senses, the still of the night interrupted by a brilliant glow growing in the distance."

  • Shiver me timbers.
The team at Pirates of the Burning Sea have posted their current milestone goals. With no guarantee we believe that they wrote this:

"Now that E3 is over, we can take a bit more time polishing some of the new elements that went into the game. This list looks a bit smaller than previous milestones, because some of the bullet items (such as Missions and Avatars) encompass several people."

You can read the entire Pirates of the Buring Sea Milestone list at The Official Site.
