"Waste enemies, not time." - the official motto of Fury.

In essence, Fury's slogan totally epitomized the experience inside the ever-present PvP arena known as Fury. Labeled an MMOTPS (massively multiplayer third person slasher), Fury was a balls-out game that has been noted for its fast pace and highly competitive, tournament-driven player base. Built from the ground up with the PvP arena in mind, the developers at Auran enlisted the aid of the Unreal Engine 3 to make the graphics for the game while customizing it for their own needs.

On August 5th, 2008, Fury announced that it would be shutting down. The company struggled for a while, going from a pay-to-pay system to a free-to-play system and even introducing microtransactions to help with costs. The game has now been cancelled and the official website is inaccessible.

Have you chosen to try Fury yet?

Since its release in October, Fury has been under a seemingly constant barrage of scrutiny from the industry press (except for our own Jeff Woleslagle's positive first impression review of the game). Whether it's horribly scored reviews or rumors about potential staff layoffs, the press seems like they're hell bent on crucifying the entire Auran development team. Still, the Auran staff has forged on and are preparing to release their first major update to the game, titled the Age of the Chosen.

    Doom! DOOM! Okay, maybe not.

As reported by Kotaku, the Angry Gamer website began spreading rumors the other day that Fury developer Auran was expecting massive lay-offs and possibly shutting the game down in the US and Europe (but not China). However, Tony Hillman, CEO of Auran, published a statement which claimed that such rumors were "greatly exaggerated" and that the removal of the QA staff members was intended to create a smaller, more agile team.
