  • Exploring Middle-earth: Crickhollow

The official site for Lord of the Rings Online has been updated with another in the Exploring Middle-earth series. This time we get a look at Crickhollow...

In Buckland, not far to the north of Brandy Hall in the hills rising away from the path of the Brandywine, travelers will come upon Crickhollow, an often-visited retreat for those Hobbits who wish to spend a few days away from their daily routine, or simply rest and eat more peacefully than they are used to resting and eating at home. Those who live near Crickhollow are pleasant enough folk, though generally they like to be left alone to their peace and quiet.

  • Exploring Middle-earth: Bilbo's Stone Trolls

The official site for The Lord of the Rings Online has been updated with another in the series called Exploring Middle-earth.

The adventures of Bilbo Baggins, as chronicled in The Hobbit, nearly ended rather abruptly in the area known as the Trollshaws when he and his companions encountered three trolls named Bert, Tom, and William. Bilbo and the dwarves narrowly escaped becoming a meal for the hungry trolls after Gandalf intervened and set the trolls to arguing over the best way to prepare a feast of Hobbit- and Dwarf-meat.

  • Player Beta Journals Discuss The Minstrel

The official site for Lord of the Rings Online has been updated with another in the series of Player Beta Journals! Keep reading to see what this week's journal brings!

When I log onto my minstrel, I feel very comfortable with him. Minstrels are the main healing class, therefore it is very easy to make friends and find a group. The minstrel, in my eyes, is one of the backbones of any fellowship.

  • Exploring Middle-earth: The Ford of Bruinen

The official site for Lord of the Rings Online has been updated with another in the series of Exploring Middle-earth.

As travelers head east toward the Misty Mountains, leaving behind the barren Lone-lands and the treacherous hills of the Trollshaws, the roar of the River Bruinen, or "Loadwater," fills the air. At the Ford of Bruinen, where the Great East Road crosses the mighty river as it approaches the Valley of Rivendell, the swift waters can be easily crossed at these shallows just below the picturesque falls.

  • New Players Beta Journal

The official site for Lord of the Rings Online has been updated with another in their series of Player Beta Journals. This week's installment talks about the Captian Class.

Today was my first time fighting with a fellowship in an instance. Up until this point I had been struggling with the usefulness of my captain. He "wasn't the best solo dps" or "his buffs and heals didn't feel that effective." Part of this was because I was still in my lower levels. Well today that all changed.

  • Exploring Middle-earth: Brandy Hall

The official site for Lord of the Rings Online has been updated with another in the series of Exploring Middle-earth. In this edition, we are given a peek at Brandy Hall.

For nearly 700 years, the warm light from the many windows of Brandy Hall has welcomed visitors crossing the Brandywine River from the west into Buckland. Originally delved and built by Gorhendad Oldbuck, the first Master of the Hall (as the head of the Brandybuck family is called), and greatly expanded over generations, the ancestral home of the Brandybuck family is now formed of many tunnels and rooms occupying the entirety of Buck Hill on the eastern banks of the Brandywine.

  • Get To Know Gandalf

The official site for Lord of the Rings Online has been updated with the Characters of Middle-earth series. This edition gives us a look at none other than Gandalf himself.

Also known as the Grey Wizard (his Sindarin name Mithrandir means "Grey Pilgrim"), Gandalf is perhaps Middle-earth's best-known inhabitant. Although he sometimes appears to be old and frail, Gandalf the Grey is actually one of the most powerful allies of the good folk of Middle-earth and a guide to the Free Peoples in their struggle against the darkness. In addition to being a powerful wizard, Gandalf wields Glamdring, the Foe-hammer, a magical Elven-sword forged in the First Age and greatly feared by the creatures of evil
