    On the official site for Lord of the Rings Online, an announcement is made concerning the first content update.

    "Turbine has a long tradition of quickly adding new content and Chapter 9 demonstrates our commitment to The Lord of the Rings Online," said Jeffrey Anderson, president and CEO of Turbine Inc. "The new race and their starting area fit perfectly into the story and setting of The Lord of the Rings."

  • Creatures of Middle-earth: Stone Trolls

    The official site for Lord of the Rings Online has been updated with a look at more of the creatures you can expect to see in Middle-earth.

    Stone-trolls are said to frequent the area of eastern Eriador known (perhaps not surprisingly) as the Trollshaws. These forested lands of craggy hills on the western slopes of the Misty Mountains were known long ago as the kingdom of Rhudaur, once part of ancient Arnor, and still contain many ruins and remnants of the ancient dwellings of men.

    A press release was issued today to announce the pre-launch events for the upcoming Lord of the Rings Online.

    Traits are new skills, bonuses, and other enhancements that benefit your character, and may be discovered through the course of one’s adventures and explorations in the game. Traits add a fun level of discovery and purpose to many tasks, both mundane and heroic, and we think players will really enjoy discovering new Traits with which to enhance their characters.

    The official site for Lord of the Rings Online was updated today with this look at the titles that will be in the game.

    What's in a name? In The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, descriptors are often added to the names of people to provide significant information about them: Gandalf the Grey, Eorl the Young, Saruman the Wise, or Théoden son of Thengel. Even weapons, such as Orcrist the Goblin-cleaver, were granted titles based on their history.
