Based on the real world, the MMOG
All Points Bulletin (APB) is a never-ending battle between the two factions--the gangs who try to commit crimes and the law enforcement members who try to stop them. This game was designed by the creator of the
Grand Theft Auto franchise. Like GTA, the game features driving and free-form combat, with the gangs zoning in on customized cars and earning cash, while the law enforcement faction focuses on advanced weapons and destroying the gangs. Advanced characters customization was one of
APB's highly praised features.
APB developer, Realtime Worlds,
entered into Administration in August 2010, and in just under three months of operation,
APB was cancelled. But
APB has been given a second chance. Reloaded Productions, a subsidiary of free-to-play publisher GamersFirst,
acquired the IP rights to the game in November 2010 and placed it back into development to be published by GamersFirst as a free-to-play title and relaunched it under the name
APB: Reloaded following a number of improvements and another beta for the title.
APB: Reloaded launched in December 2011 in North America.
