We've gathered some of the most helpful hints that make the instance a little easier either on you or your raid. Not only that, but we've included some alternative strategies for some of the bosses within this vast fortress.

"Always bring along any extra consumables that you have. Even the lowest of buff/heal potions can be helpful within Blackwing Lair. Bandages are also a must. While they are not often used, for encounters like Firemaw they are life savers."

  • It's Friday and that means most of you are cutting work early to get home and login for a raid. Enjoy!
A special round of thanks to those of you who so graciously responded to my recent diatribe regarding my not-so-funny comic. Your votes have driven it down to rank 43 out of 67 total comics. You're a bunch of wiseacres you are.
As I am wont to do, I was typing random search words into Google and hoping to find some material for the blog when the search words "City of Heroes Pink" came up 7, 7, 7 in the Google slot machine of "so this is where they find people dumb enough to do those Jackass stunts".
A site titled Pink News which is apparently either a site devoted to gay culture or the biggest fan site on the Interweb for the pop singing star Pink was carrying a story about an "Online gaming enthusiast" who was upset that:

"His enjoyment was spoiled after receiving an email from the website saying he had broken the game's rules, he said it was the first time he had been discriminated against for being gay,"

How dare a company spoil his enjoyment? Perhaps it simply past the best-before date and he hadn't checked? To put this story in full light we need to know what rule this gentleman broke.
He named his characters as follows, GayAvenger, GayController, GayRevenger and GayHealer.
Pastel colours, the short bus, four exclusive MMOG articles and more are but a click away.

  • Halfling Build

DDO fighters get access to more combat Feats than any other class. Paladins get terrific resistances and immunities. Rogues develop a innate danger sense that allows them to avoid damage more often. Our newest writer, Scathe, combines these classes with the uniqueness of the halfling race to make one tiny but powerful build!

"The 3 levels of paladin are for Divine Health. Disease is a pretty powerful effect, especially from higher level monsters. Players don't want to be forced to rely on having gloves from Delera's or a necklace as the source of protection. The second level of rogue is for Evasion and the +3 to reflex saves."

  • Age of Conan Updated Impressions: More Than Just Swordplay At GameSpot

Gamespot has posted a preview of the upcoming Age of Conan. This preview takes a look at the roles of commander and lord.

BARCELONA--Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures is more than a simply massively multiplayer online hack and slash-fest. Oh, make no mistake, the game based on Robert E. Howard's classic tales of the boozing, brawling, babe-loving barbarian king will offer you plenty of opportunities to get to the wetworks with your favorite edged weapon on all sorts of enemies. It just isn't all there is to do in this multifaceted game, as we discovered on the floor of X06 today.

  • Standard MMO subscription package replaces proposed PLAYplus system as Codemasters Online Gaming respond to community feedback

A press release has been issued this morning to announce that the previously announced PLAYplus system is being done away with in response to community feedback.

The PLAYplus payment system allowed players to choose from a range of monthly subscription packages, each offering different levels of in-game incentives at varying price points. Following experimentation with the system within the beta test and monitoring the feedback from thousands of ArchLord community members, the PLAYplus system will not be implemented for the game’s release.

  • Seed Forced to Say Good Bye

Stunning news hit our desks this morning from the Ten Ton Hammer's Most Original Game for E3 2006 winner, Seed. A Letter has been sent out by Lars Kroll Kristensen CEO of Runestone Game Development.

For the past two months, I and a few others have attempted to sell a partnership deal to a long list of publishers and MMO companies, trying to raise the capital we needed to finish the game properly, and re-launch it in a form it, and especially you the community, deserve. While we have received a great deal of interest, we have not been able to close a deal. The harsh reality is that we have now officially run out of money, and out of options, and therefore, we cannot pay salaries, rent or hosting fees.

Read the rest of the letter or head to the official Seed Forums to learn more. Share your thoughts on this sad news in the forums right here at Ten Ton Hammer.

  • Why I Love the Rogue Class

Ever feel the urge to slink through the shadows, clutching a razor sharp blade, in order to stab some unsuspecting bad guy in the back? Yeah, me too. And our Vanguard rogue specialist, Eboli, is positively addicted. He takes a moment to tell us why he loves playing a rogue in MMOs, and why he's looking forward to the rogue class in Vanguard: Saga of Heroes.

"For me it all started during a Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) session with my older brother and his friends in a damp dark basement. The thrill of saving my party by using stealth to sneak by a nasty ghoul and obtain the only thing that would kill it--it's life-draining heart--got me hooked. Then came the introduction of computer games such as Diablo, followed later by MMOGs (yes I am showing my age here a bit)."
