  • WoW Ten Ton Hammer's Guide to Instances Updated

Wondering what that "instance" thing you hear about all the time is? Do you have some quests for the Deadmines but no clue what the Deadmines is? Well look no further! We've updated our Instance Guide with more information then ever on these unique dungeons that provide a separate area of the world just for you and your group.

"Instances are personal copies of the game world designed for 5 to 40 players (depending on the encounter). Groups or raids can enter special portals to be taken to a separate copy of that dungeon/area that is only available to that group/raid. Instance automatically place people in their proper instance, making it impossible for anyone outside of a group/raid to enter their instance. They are instead given a copy of their own, just for their group/raid."

  • More votes, same result. It's official! My latest comic stinks. On the bright side, the bar isn't set very high for my next attempt to be a superior offering. I've got a good feeling about my next comic idea. Just you wait, the next comic is going to be as popular as a chocolate bar at fat camp. A camp that Kirstie Alley isn't attending by the way.

Our good man Jeff Woleslagle has posted a nifty blog about a real-time strategy game he recently played that spent more time dropping the f-bomb than Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf spends shooting his mouth off. Check out Jeff's blog while I explain why the president of Pakistan decided that the Comedy Network's Daily Show was an appropriate venue for the promotion of his book.

  • Rogue Class Guide Additions

DDO rogues are the archetypal thieves of fantasy lore. They pick locks, disarm traps, and seek treasure in the dangerous dungeons of Stormreach. Without a doubt, rogues are a meaningful and impactful class in DDO that demands planning and skill from players. We at DDO Ten Ton Hammer love rogues and have added a new coat of paint to our guide for this wonderful class.

"Rogues are prized for the resourcefulness and seldom are counted on to deliver the bulk of the damage. Instead, adventuring parties will count on rogues to scout ahead, sneak past guards to avoid a confrontation, or pilfer an item needed for the completion of a quest."

  • The creative head of Cryptic Studios talks to

For the conclusion of their AGC Coverage, offers this interview with the Director of Cryptic Studios.

The last appointment of AGC brought face to face with Jack Emmert, the Creative Director of Cryptic Studios. We spoke about the City of Heroes/Villains franchise and what else may be on the horizon for this California-based development studio.

Currently, Cryptic is staffing up on a cross-platform (PC and unspecified next-generation consoles) massively-multi-player game. While Emmert was not yet able to give us much details, he did tell me specifically that the company is not worried about potential DC Comics and Marvel MMORPGs in development at Sony and Microsoft and wont avoid the genre that made them famous out of fear of being crowded out. He pointed out that there are hundreds of fantasy games and they view superhero games as a genre unto themselves. Does that mean their next-gen MMO is a superhero game? No, but it doesn’t rule it out either.

  • Adventure Area: The Sands of Menechtarun

The official site for Dungeons and Dragons Online has been updated with a look at a new area that will be open in Modle 3. This area is a vast desert that sprawls across the western reaches of Xen'drik.

The Menechtarun is a vast desert that sprawls across the western reaches of Xen'drik. In ancient times, the Menechtarun was ruled by a tyrannical Wizard-King and his demonic servants. Today, these lands are home to rugged settlers, barbaric gnoll tribes and a sect of fanatical drow and scorrow called the Vulkoorim, or the "Chosen of Vulkoor." The Wizard-King himself is long dead, but his ageless servants have flourished, giving rise to another name for this region -- the Demon Sands.
