Ten Ton Hammer

  • Happy Labour Day, especially to any women who happen to be in labour.
Labour Day, the day of the year in North America when only the most essential services are on the job. There are some professions that are so essential that a day off is just not in the cards. Hospital personnel, police officers, firefighters, those that serve in the military, fast-food counter clerks and gaming site editors all apparently fit into that section if the workforce. Let's face it, if you are hurt, chased by killer bees, caught in a fire, being invaded, need a Big Mac or just have to know all about the recent theft in EVE Online you need assistance immediately. These are situations where waiting a day just won't do and could be life threatening.
Though I would like to think that what I do here at TenTonHammer.com is akin to a police officer or a paramedic I have to believe that it fits in there with the grease jockey at the local Wendy's. If you could see the polyester outfit I'm wearing right now... hooboy, and the hat! Thank you for reading on Labour Day. Would you like some actualy MMOG information with that?

  • EverQuesting - The Origins of Vanguard Fans

Are Vanguard: Saga of Heroes fans living in a fantasy? Shayalyn's visit to a renaissance fair reminded her of her love for the fantasy MMOG genre. Considering the games most Vanguard fans are currently playing, its' clear that she's not alone. Check out the editorial that asks the all-important question: Where do Vanguard fans come from?

"My more progressive gaming friends tease me about my addiction to elves and orcs, but I can’t help it--medieval realms trip my trigger. Wielding a blaster and flying around space wouldn’t cut it for me. Give me a sword and shield (or magic fingers to wiggle) and a horse to ride and I’m a happy girl."

  • Too much of a good thing?

It's possible! And the best time to try out some not-so-MMO gaming is during September and October, when developers start bringing out their latest efforts in time for the Christmas season. Ethec offers his most anticipated mainstream games to help you keep up your gaming mojo when your favorite MMORPG leaves you feeling temporarily toasted.

"Since MMOs are much more fun to play than to watch (Your visiting friend: "Sooo, still hitting that Scrawny Rat? Great."), you might want to keep some sports titles on hand for when company comes over. Sports games have the dual benefit of keeping you up to date on the major players and thereby conversant with friends who don't share the same concerns over what the last patch did to the rogue class. Unfortunately, unless you're into the sports management sims or low quality ports, sports games have mostly gone the way of the increasingly pricey console."

Keep reading to find out what other advice Ethec has to offer. Think he's hit the mark or has totally missed it? Let us know on the forums right here at Ten Ton Hammer and don't be shy!

  • Polygamery- What's your Poison?

What is it with gamers having to play a million games at once? What are they playing and why? Kiara pretends she has a clue and talks a bit about what other games are out there and her theories on why gamers can't have just one. And no, it has nothing to do with potato chips.

Gamers are a notoriously fickle and faithless lot. There's isn't a game in existence that could hold the undivided attention of any gamer for more than a few days.

Oh, don't get me wrong. I'm not saying that a gamer doesn't have a favourite game. One to which they will always return, like a well loved pair of pj's. But let's face it. Gamers are like adreneline junkies. They're always looking for the next fix.

Get clicking to read more of Kiara's thoughts on this. What are your favorite (or favourite ;P ) games to play? Let us know in the forums at EQ2 Ten Ton Hammer!

  • What DDO Players Do Between Sessions of Their Favorite Game

What do DDO players do when they need a break from DDO or don't have the time for one of those intensive high-level quests? We examine a number of the other games DDO subscribers play and evaluate how those games impact DDO.

"Just about everyone and his mother has at least tried W[orld] o[f] W[arcraft]. Among it's crowd-pleasing features are the ability to solo any class to the level cap, an overwhelming (in a good way) loot system that makes rares feel special, and the full array of time sinks. WoW has questing, crafting, player-vs.player combat (PvP), raids, and a huge world to explore."

Get clicking to read the rest! Head over to forums at DDO Ten Ton Hammer and let us know what you do between sessions of your favorite game.
