  • Tier 1 Leveling Guide

To kick off our leveling guide series, Savanja is taking a look at making those first itty-bitty baby levels. Find out the quickest and easiest way to get through levels 1-10 without having to resort to a boring grinding session.

Really, the best way to level early on is on The Queens's Colony and the Outpost of the Overlord. Completing all the quests from the islands will easily get you to level 7 or 8. I'd suggest using Slide's guide to the Colony, and Radar's guide to the Outpost to easily get you through the islands. From there you'd really want to do the racial quests. Those aren't hard to find. Your racial mentor will be found somewhere near the dock, talk to them, and do their tasks.

  • To Raise or Not to Raise

With the expansion Echoes of Faydwer on the horizon, an important question sits in the mind and hearts of some. Why are they not raising the level cap? Kiara takes a look at this all important question, and gets wings.

That is the question. Whether 'tis nobler in the... Oh stuff it. The long and short of it is that there will not (at this time, anyway) be a level cap increase in the upcoming expansion. There is hot debate about this particular subject.

Personally, I'm of two minds about the whole thing. I feel like Harvey Dent. (Bonus points if you know that reference.) I can see both sides of the argument, and as such am lukewarm about the entire issue.

  • Learn All About the Draenei and Blood Elves

We've updated our Race guide with information and abilities for the two new Burning Crusade races (Draenei & Blood Elves). We've also updated the previous information with each race's starting stats and even more information! Stay tuned as we update our Races guide and similar guides with new Burning Crusade information as it comes in!

"The Draenei arrive to Azeroth onboard a piece of the Tempest Keep from Outland. Unlike the Draenei we see and battle, these Draenei are completely different. They feature a very Humanoid figure with various appendages and monster like qualities. They will be the new race arriving with the expansion and feature a very nice "monster" race for the Alliance."

Read more about these races and then let us know what you think in the forums at WoW Ten Ton Hammer.

  • Is There Life After SG-1? An Austin Games Interview with Joe Ybarra, VP of Product Development, Stargate Worlds

Joe Ybarra is one of the venerable developer names behind games you've certainly heard of and probably played. Nowadays, Mr. Ybarra is one of the decision-makers behind Stargate Worlds, the highly anticipated MMORPG based on the long-running Stargate television series. That's "series" plural, but one of those series, Stargate SG-1, is heading into its last season. How will this impact the development of Stargate Worlds? This, and an update on progress made since the last time we talked to the Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment team, was on Nicole "Awen" Hamlett's mind when she spoke with Joe Ybarra at Austin Games Conference.

"The idea about this whole game design revolves around modeling the modern combat system. So this is all about the SG-1 team, the P-90's, the explosives, the Zat guns and all that good stuff. What we're really doing with this is trying to design a combat system that is really different than what you see in the typical MMO. We're completely getting away from that, aside from PVE. And of course the PVP environment takes care of itself because there are real humans driving that. But we know that in all of these games, the majority of what players do is fight. So we need to make sure that our game is really robust in the combat system."

  • "Dude, You're (Not) Getting a Dell!!!"

Ever have one of those customer service experiences born out of a Dilbert strip? Me neither, as my recent experience with Dell.ca's online store is more akin to something out of Bizarro.

"Mahesh: “No, that’s the two options and calling Sales will not help they won’t be able to do anything about it.”

Me: “OK. Let’s try this another way. If I buy an XPS 700 with the single GeForce 7900 GS, would there by chance be empty PCIExpress slots on the motherboard?”

Mahesh: *4 minute pause* “For… another graphics card?”

Me: “Now you’re catching on.” "

  • What Role Will You Play?

Games Radar takes a look at Vanguard: Saga of Heroes, focusing on the spheres of classes that will be available.

There are actually three different Spheres of classes in Vanguard: Saga of Heroes (didn't we mention that this game is huge?). In this portion of the preview, we'll focus on the Adventuring Sphere of classes which you'll select when you initially create your character. (We'll cover the Crafting and Diplomacy Spheres later in the week.) Your Adventuring class determines what kind of skills your character will be able to learn as you gain experience. These skills are predominantly combat based, whereas other Sphere's focus on other game aspects such as item creation and faction interaction.
