  • NCsoft Europe releases 'Good Versus Evil' retail package, combining City of Heroes and City of Villains

NCSoft has issued a press release this morning to announce the release of combined edition of City of Heroes and City of Villains in the Good vs. Evil package.

The “Good Versus Evil Combined Edition” has both City of Heroes and City of Villains games, including the recent, massive expansion “Issue 7: Destiny Manifest” which introduced dynamic player-versus-player zones and one-of-a-kind villain Mayhem Missions. City of Heroes, released in Europe in February 2005, allows players to create characters with completely original costumes and powers, then fight criminals and villains who are terrorising Paragon City™. In the October 2005 follow-up, City of Villains, players get to show off their bad side by creating villainous characters whose job it is to build a criminal empire and wreak havoc in the Rogue Isles™.

  • Why I Love the Necromancer

Do you see dead people? Love having a minion to do your dirty work? The Vanguard: Saga of Heroes Necromancer promises to be a popular class for people who like power and live for the creep factor. Charabis shares a little bit about why the Necromancer is one of his favorite classes. Customizable abominations? What's not to like!

"And now we have Vanguard, which seems to be taking a new approach. A new approach called the Abomination. (I think it has a lovely sound to it, don't you?) Abominations, unlike their predecessors in the MMOG worlds, will be customizable. Let me say that again. You get to customize your unholy monster in Vanguard; not just by grabbing some random items or casting some obscure spell, but by grafting parts gained from other creatures onto it."

  • More Video Goodness!

Brad McQuaid, CEO of Sigil Games Online and Executive Producer of Vanguard: Saga of Heroes, released two more videos taken by Sigil programmer Jerrith. One shows some close range combat in a dungeon. The other, shot outdoors, takes a look at combat from zoomed-out third person perspective, allowing you to get a good look at the surroundings as well as spell effects. Like these videos? There will be even more available at Vanguard Ten Ton Hammer soon!

  • Four New Videos!

Brad McQuaid has handed out what could be the last of the Vanguard: Saga of Heroes videos we see before SOE begins revving its marketing engines and putting out slick new productions. If you want a quick honest peek at Vanguard in beta 3, these videos should do the trick. We've got vast numbers of them at Vanguard Ten Ton Hammer, and our own Phil "Ralphedelominius" Comeau stayed up into the wee hours of the morning uploading them. I think you're obligated to check these out. If not for yourself...do it for Phil.

  • Yesterday was a huge day. The StarGate Worlds exclusive screenshots hit the site and people went nuts. We had to call in SG 3, SG 7 and SG 11 just to keep the peace. Today we have six, count 'em six Vanguard: Saga of Heroes movies for you to enjoy. I take back what I wrote about Brad McQuaid being the Penguin. He has been doling out videos faster than Anna Nicole Smith can find a 90-year-old husband. We've got four of them here and two more of them here. We've got so many we can't even put them all in one place.
Penguins, Craig's List, Our C.E.O., six Vanguard movies, six exclusive MMOG articles and much more are but a click away. Loading... September 13, 2006 [Time Travel Edition]

  • The Wonderful World of The Ranger...

The DDO ranger is a damage machine when built correctly. To build a good ranger, you need to know about their many free ranged and melee Feats. Our updated class introduction lists all of the Feats rangers gain for free and collects all of the links to our handy DDO ranger guides in one spot!

"Melee rangers would do well to consider Mobility and Spring Attack to make it easier to fight while on the move. Rangers who prefer to use bows could benefit from Improved Critical: Ranged and Weapon Focus: Ranged and Weapon Specialization: Ranged."

  • I'm Special Darn It!

No one wants to be just like everyone else, but has it become a trend in MMO developing to make things easier, by making cookie cutter characters? With character skin creation, race choices, class choices, and achievement points are we really getting enough to make each of our beloved characters truly unique? Savanja takes a look at character specialization with her article "I'm Special Darn it!".

The first aspect of making your character your own, is within it's birth. I have always been vocal in regards to my opinion that while the creation process of character models are okay, it certainly did not meet up with it's full potential. And I hate to draw that same old comparison, but it is a must in this topic. Stars Wars Galaxies. It has a character creation process unlike any MMO on the market, and while it wasn't enough to save a clearly dying game, when I first stepped into that game, it was the first (and last) thing I was wowed by.

  • Bigger is Not Always Better

With the onslaught of MMORPGs , Awenyddion determines that bigger does not always mean better. Games like World of Warcraft and Warhammer may be on your radar, but maybe it’s time to take a look at the smaller independent niche games. Sometimes, those are the games that give you the most bang for your buck.

The evolution of MMORPG’s has brought us into an arena where investors and developers alike are competing for our attention. With World of Warcraft raking an untapped market, the playing field has just gotten a little bit larger. Unfortunately there are some who see MMO games as a means to make “Money Hat” cash, rather than a well designed game. Somewhere along the line, it stopped being about making a game for the “love of the game.” As the years have gone by, more and more people are getting into the MMO groove. However, none dreamed that the roof could be shattered by the force of World of Warcraft’s millions of subscribers.

  • Daniel Newman and the Vanguard Crafting Team Speak

MMO Craft has posted an interview today that gets more answers about the crafting system planned for the upcoming Vanguard Saga of Heroes.

Daniel and the Vanguard crafting team were kind enough to stop by my office to answer some burning questions I had about the Vanguard crafting system. Ok, so they didn't come all the way to my office the Mid West but they did answer some great questions, all about Crafting, accept the one about where my Beta Key is, I'm assuming it must be “lost in the mail“ :-) /sigh.

Keep reading to learn more and then don't forget to head over to Vanguard Ten Ton Hammer and let us know what you think!
