  • Diary #2

Gamespot has another addition to the ArchLord dev diary on their site. In this entry we are treated to more of the history of the world and a bit about the races within it.

When Cyripus' men didn't find the Archons in Gracia's village, Cyripus supposed she must have left them elsewhere for safekeeping. The safest place she would have known was the main temple in Serend, so that is where he turned his attention next. Dikain, a monk of the highest level, guarded the temple. He was a formidable force all on his own, but since he was surrounded by his people, he was invincible. Cyripus knew he had to destroy Dikain from the inside if he had any hope of gaining any Archons that he guarded.

  • Get Your Friends Ready for This Instance!

We now have a complete guide to the 10-man instance known as Upper Blackrock Lair (UBRS). UBRS is home to Nefarian's army of evil black dragonkin along with the Blackrock Orcs under his control. Our guide contains all of the information and tactics you need to claim both victory and plenty of good loot!

"Upper Blackrock Spire (commonly referred to as UBRS) is a sprawling 10-man instance locked away within the Blackrock Mountains. Similar to Blackwing Lair (BWL), Blackrock Spire was once one of the strongest strongholds for the Dark Iron Dwarves. However, it has a new owner. The nefarious Nefarian now controls it and is using it as a staging ground to amass his army. The upper level is designed for ten players inside of a raid that are all above level fifty-seven. The upper level contains a wealth of gear that is needed for Molten Core along with the ability to complete quests related to the attunement for Onyxia's Lair and BWL."

  • DDO Quest Week

DDO Quest Week continues here at Ten Ton Hammer as we release the first of our quest walkthroughs. This guide leads you through the Level 2 quest "Missing in Action."

"The goal of this quest is to kill the troglodyte shaman who leads all the kobolds and troglodytes here. Upon entering, you see a hallway ending at a 4-way intersection. The one directly ahead is blocked by a portcullis and is flanked by two unlit crystals. To the right and left are corridors leading past water flows (ankle deep) to different parts of the dungeon."

  • The World of Warcraft 1.12 patch is now out. Numerous changes including inter-realm battlegrounds will become reality when the servers come back up. Other changes include, World PvP, Honorable Kills will now diminish at a rate of 10% per kill rather than 25%.. Rogues receive their talent revamp and will get a free respec.
You can grab the patch via the TenTonHammer.com Patch Mirror.
The patch notes are posted on our World of Warcraft Community site.

It will be interesting to see how battlegrounds play out. The battlegroups didn't appear to take into account the age of the servers. Launch servers are in the same battlegroups as some brand new servers. I guess the level 19 twinks will be in heaven.
Patches, Two new MMOG articles, homophobia, Tom and Jerry and much more is but a click away.

  • Turbine Releases Alpha Tester Impressions

The official site for Lord of the Rings Online has been updated with a page dedicated to sharing some impressions from the alpha stage testers. High marks seem to be all round...

So far, we're very pleased with how Alpha has been progressing. This week marked the largest number of concurrent players on the server since Alpha began, giving us a good starting point for analysis on how the game performs and plays. Despite heavier than expected logins, the servers remained stable and most players reported very few problems creating their character and beginning their adventure in Middle-earth. Even though there was a scarcity of wolves in the newbie hunting area (something that will be resolved in the next Alpha build), Archet was abuzz with excitement and activity.

We thought we'd take a moment to share some of the Alpha players' comments with you for some insight into what they think so far:

    * Writing is excellent so far, as are the characterizations. The model options are fantastic - giving you a very *real* seeming and very individual character.

Head over and see all the comments and learn how you can sign up for a chance at Beta! Share all your thoughts on Lord of the Rings Online with us at LOTRO Ten Ton Hammer and get to know the growing community better!

  • Dave Perry on 2Moons

GameSpy talks with the creator of Earthworm Jim as he takes his first adventure in making MMOs with 2Moons.

Dave Perry might not be the first name you associate with MMOs, but the creator of Earthworm Jim is hard at work trying to blaze the trail that may just define the future of the market in North America. He's partnered with a newly resurrected Acclaim Entertainment to bring us 2Moons, a fully localized (and from the sounds of it, heavily reworked) Korean MMO that he hopes will serve as the benchmark for what a free-to-play, ad-supported, persistent-world game can be. We recently sat down with Perry, and picked his brain.

  • Troy Hewitt Goes Indepth About Pirates of the Burning Sea

Hooked on Games sat down with Flying Labs' Troy Hewitt recently and posted a lengthy interview. There is even a hint as to when we will learn the expected launch date!

HG: There has been some differing information on exactly when the game will be released. Could you give our readers a better idea of when it will come out?

Troy: *Grins* I could divulge that information but then I would have to swear you to secrecy and we all know how writers and members of the media enjoy having a big scoop by letting the cat out of the bag. Seriously, let me say that we will be announcing the release date at the upcoming PAX show in Seattle.
