  • Weekly Poll: Happily Homeless - No Official Vanguard Forums at Launch

Ah, official MMO forums--you'll not find more wretched hives of scum and villainy. Even your Jedi mind tricks will not prevent the flaming and constant bickering that goes on there. But what if a MMO had no official forum? That's what Sigil Games Online intends to do with Vanguard: Saga of Heroes when the game launches this winter. Where will fans go? Vanguard community sites like Vanguard Ten Ton Hammer will prevent forum homelessness. We want to know how you feel about the lack of official forums. Come read more about Sigil's decision, then vote in our poll.

"I think that not having an official forum for Vanguard is actually a pretty revolutionary idea, if for one simple reason--official game sites can be scary places. I've never been to an official forum that wasn't full of sniping and flaming. And it's no one's fault, really. No matter how well the moderators do their job, when you put that much digital humanity in one place at a time you're going to end up with, to quote Obi-Wan Kenobi, 'a wretched hive of scum and villainy.'"

Let your voice be heard! Hurry over to Vanguard Ten Ton Hammer and vote!

  • The Plane of Fear

Fears. You have them, whether they reside in your dreams or wielding a butcher knife in the back of your closet. Coyotee Sharptongue ventures to where fears become reality, and examines the horrors that reside in the Plane of Fear.

"Your heart pounds frantically, every beat echoing the crushing waves of terror that envelope you, drowning you in a panicked tide of cold sweat. Horror. Terror. Fear. Few would ever venture willingly into its clutches, and fewer still would be bold enough to confront it in its own home." A large Kerran, known only as Coyotee Sharptongue, holds a microphone as he whispers breathlessly into the camera.

  • The 10 most anticipated PC Games. A list that dare only be compiled by those with the thickest of skin. Digital Battle, who I have never heard of, has compiled their version of aforementioned list.
Of the top 10, onlyWarhammer Online made the cut, coming in at number six.World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade, Tabula Rasa, Vanguard: Saga of Heroes and, Lord of the Rings Online didn't make the list, but S.T.A.L.K.E.R. did. It's hard to argue with Supreme Commander or Command and Conquer 3. Dawn of War aside, that genre needs a new game to resusitate it.
There are some fantastic MMOGs in development. My Top 10 list would go something like this, ranked by what I would like to play today.
My Top 10 list, Burka Bingo, five exclusive MMOG articles and more is but a click away.

  • Nevrax opens up the Ryzom world to let you--the player--design your own online stories.

GameSpot has posted their first impressions of the upcoming expansion to Saga of Ryzom, Ryzom Ring. See what they think...

The concept of allowing users to generate their own content is nothing new. Back as far as the late eighties, gamers were getting in on the act with packages such as Sensible Software's Shoot-'Em-Up Construction Kit. Since then, some developers have shipped tools within their games to enable players to create custom levels or missions, and such freedom soon proved popular as online communities flourished--Doom, Morrowind, and Neverwinter Nights were just a few to galvanise would-be designers to get creative.

  • RPG Vault's Second Half of Their Look At The Serpent's Spine

This week brings us the conclusion of RPG Vault's interview with David Ford. This installment covers magic, items and more!

Jonric: Will there be many new items such as weapons, armor, etc? What are some interesting ones players can expect to see?

David Ford: Visually speaking, there are a number of really great looking held items that will be found in The Serpent's Spine. One I really like is a Lava dagger that has flowing magma that runs through the blade itself.

We will be itemizing the expansion from level 1 onward, so there really won't be any type of item that exists in EverQuest that you can't find somewhere in this expansion. Not to say that every item will be duplicated, but the variety will be quite large.

Catch up on your reading with part one before reading the rest of this interview. Are you looking forward to playing The Serpent's Spine? Let us know in the forums right here at Ten Ton Hammer.
