Ten Ton Hammer

  • Feel The Power of Godhood With Gods and Heroes posted a review of the forthcoming MMO Gods and Heroes: Rome Rising. In this game the player has the potiental to become godlike in power controling minions to do their will...

The premise is interesting: Players will be the offspring of a mythical god. As you advance in levels, you'll gain core abilities from your parents, such as lighting from Thor. (Any takers on what Venus's ability will be?) You'll get the powers by completing quests offered to you by the gods.

Did Worthplaying proclaim Gods and Heroes a hit or miss? Head over and find out.

  • Nathan Richardsson Spills All... posted an interview with CCP senior producer Nathan Richardsson about their plans for EVE Online, including an upcoming DirectX10 version of the game. CCP is the Iceland based developer of EVE Online.

FiringSquad: First, EVE Online continue to grow in its subscription rate even though the game itself is sold and download almost completely online now. Did CCP anticipate having this many customers at this time when the game launched?

Nathan Richardsson: Well, that depends on who you ask and when you asked them :)

The first ambitions were quite high, but along the development time the expectations became more realistic. After we acquired the publication rights back and started online distribution of the client, our numbers started growing again. We’ve so far exceeded our expectations year after year and hope it we’ll continue to be pleasantly surprised.

  • Wizard vs. Sorcerer

This week is Wizard Week at DDO Ten Ton Hammer. We’re providing guides for how to build wizards Wednesday and Thursday based on your requests. What we’d like to hear from you is whether or not you think people will want to play a wizard in DDO once spell-swapping is implemented for sorcerers.

Poll: "Will people want to play a wizard in DDO once spell-swapping is implemented for sorcerers?

    * Yeah! The wizard is more versatile because he can learn EVERY spell and use any of them at ANY time.
    * No way! Nobody will need to play a wizard when sorcerers already get more spell points and will be able to pick up any spell with spell-swapping.
    * Some will. Spell-swapping will balance sorcerers (specialists) with wizards (generalists). Turbine knows what it is doing!"

Let your voice be heard! Get clicking and head to DDO Ten Ton Hammer to vote.

  • My apologies to Jeff Butler and to the 4,362 readers who wrote me to tell me that he is part of the Vanguard: Saga of Heroes team and not the Auto Assault team as I wrote yesterday. I'm not sure why I wrote Auto Assault. I must have been reliving a road rage moment. While we're on the topic and we have the ear of at least one person who knows Jeff, let's get some tricked-out chariots or ultra-trimmed-up carts pulled by uber oxen in the game; even better if we can fire lances from the horns of the ox at our enemies. All hail the bovine missile line!
Trains, Amnesty International ignores the Quillboar, a wienermobile and more are but a click away.

  • Drow Race Revealed!

The time has come! In preparation of the launch of Twilight Forge, the new module for Dungeons and Dragons Online, the history of the drow race has been unvieled!

Most Drow choose a life of adventure out of necessity, given the dangers of their homeland. Still, they greatly desire personal power, and many Drow take up the mantle of adventurer seeking to satisfy their ambitions. The majority of Drow follow the evil scorpion-god Vulkoor, though exposure to the cultures of Stormreach has brought a few of them to less malevolent deities.

  • Soon To Be In Beta...

Shacknews was able to take some time to speak with Jeffrey Steefel, Executive Producer of The Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar.

Shack: Where does Shadows of Angmar fit into the Lord of the Rings storyline?

Jeffrey Steefel: LOTRO’s storyline begins shortly after Frodo leaves the Shire. The premise of our story is that while the Fellowship formed and journeyed on to Mordor, the lands they left behind fell under attack by the forces of the Witch-king of Angmar, the King of the Nazgûl. Your role is to defend Eriador from the evil shadow which is reaching across the land in pursuit of the Fellowship and the One Ring.
