Ten Ton Hammer

  • It's the first in a four parter. I don't mind saying that it's a good laundry list. But hey, I don't play the game so I could be wrong. Tell me what you think.

    New Enhancements

Module 2 will be introducing a number of new enhancements (purchased with action points) that will let players further customize and specialize your characters. Almost everyone will be getting some new enhancements to choose from; over the next few weeks we will be posting in-depth descriptions of what these new enhancements are and how they work.

    New Enhancements for Spellcasters

We have several new lines of enhancements for arcane spellcasters, designed to help them specialize in specific types of spells. With these new enhancements, casters can score spell criticals on damaging spells, similar to the critical hits that the sword-swingers get when they get lucky on an attack. Each enhancement is specific to one energy type, and gives you a percentage chance to score a critical, and a multiplier to damage. For example, a sorcerer with the enhancement "Lineage of Force 3" has a 15% chance of scoring 50% extra damage on their magic missiles; if he prefers to use fireballs he could instead take "Lineage of Deadly Fire" which only has a 3% chance of scoring a crit, but will do triple damage when it does.

  • You know how we feel about Seed since we gave them our Most Original MMOG award. Now, find out what Stratics thinks of this innovative game.

Most other MMORPG’s will fit the bill for persistent world, up until the final sentence. Seed is all about the players changing the influence and the world itself, it’s the players that have control over what happens next. This is what blew me away about the game and garnered my interest into the title.

So let me start with a bit of background information on what Seed is about. You start out in a colony called Da Vinci, you were on a mission to terra-form a planet, however, something goes terribly wrong within the machine. Your mission is to pretty much survive as a colony and work together and come up with a plan and direction. That plan and direction is entirely up for the players to decide.

  • There is a new Tale in the Desert. We'll call it Episode III. MMORPGDot has given us their take on this continuing saga.

The third installment of the surprisingly complex MMORPG, A Tale in the Desert, recently went into open beta testing in preparation for its upcoming launch. Along with many A Tale in the Desert fans, I joined the open beta to see what improvements are being made and what new stories will be told in this next tale.

Having never played any of the previous games, I was new to the series, so it took me awhile to get my bearings and understand the premise of the game. As an avid MMORPG player, the first thing I noticed is the absence of any combat at all in the game. While usually confronted with myriad enemies and hack and slash fighting engines upon entering an MMORPG, in a Tale in the Desert III, players start in random locations in the middle of Egypt and must navigate the landscape, accomplishing tasks and solving puzzles in order to become a citizen. For those who are new to the series, the game is, essentially, based on social puzzles. Unlike most MMORPGs, this game has a beginning, middle and an end. During each telling, players work to solve an ultimate puzzle by interacting with the society to solve larger problems, creating their own puzzles for the next telling in the meantime.

  • Gamebanshee has a preview from E3 about London: Hellgate

In the summer of 2003, just as Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne was headed to retail, Blizzard Entertainment watched as many of the talented developers at Blizzard North left to pursue employment elsewhere. Included in the exodus were four key members: Erich Schaefer, Max Schaefer, David Brevik, and Bill Roper. Erich, Max, and David were the original founders of Blizzard North (or Condor, Inc., before Blizzard acquired them), and all four developers had a major role in the success of Diablo, Diablo II, and their expansions. Rather than just parting ways, the small team founded Flagship Studios and began work on a new action RPG called Hellgate: London. Since that time, the team has grown exponentially and now lists a total of sixteen original Diablo II developers. To put it into a better perspective, Flagship Studios more or less is Blizzard North, creators of the Diablo franchise.

    You can read it here.
