  • The Core...not "appeal"

    OK ok,aside from my lame attempt at a joke.....Hardcore? Casual? What game hasn't come out that doesn't cater to one group or the other? Sure all types may be in the game playing but the dynamics of the game are generally centered around one type.

    AnomalousSilence gives his take on the subject of playstyle.He looks at Vanguard's approach to the "Core" player and what that will mean for all player types.

    Vanguard: Saga of Heroes will be my future home, one where I can make new friends and an online family of sorts, one where I can stay with for years and be happy. I had already planned on playing Vanguard: Saga of Heroes for an extended period of time, hopefully upwards of a decade or even longer. With the amazing game play styled for the “core” gamer, though, the game might last me even longer than I had hoped, given my play style and MMORPG preferences.

    E3 Insider has posted a very interesting with the people who put together the network for E3. Imagine building a portable network that can handle the stresses of an event like E3.

    "There is enough horsepower to run several cities. There are over 50 miles of Gigabit Fiber and Ethernet connections throughout 25 IDF locations. E3 requires 87 separate, custom, isolated networks INSIDE the building to provide 4200 fully route-able networks, over 2000 more translated networks to the Internet and 1000 non-routable testing and secure-private networks. This provides a capacity in excess of 7200 devices with Internet Connectivity. The E3 Network is monitored and managed 24x7 via Redundant, Fault Tolerant Monitoring Systems in the on-site Network Operations Center (NOC) and also via the Main showNets NOC in Atlanta, GA. A small Army of showNets technicians runs in excess of 6 miles of custom, temporary, Ethernet Cable throughout the LACC, providing downstream connectivity from showNets designed customer LAN's to end stations in the booths."

  • When he isn't too busy counting the amount of coffee he consumes, Ratboy fills us in on the start of his E3 adventure

    So here I am, waiting to get on the flight to L.A. for what should be an excellent E3. “Messiah”, my old comrade in arms from when I worked on the World of Warcraft site, and I are currently sitting in the waiting lounge writing tomorrow’s (which will be today’s) common content article for our respective sites. Currently our fearless leader “Ralphedelominius” is nowhere to be found… no doubt his Canadian Military Training is paying off! Thankfully not all is lost, as I’ve consumed one coffee before departing my beloved Canada, ensuring that I will have some good taste in my mouth before it gets turned into a Starbucks. The other two coffees have been contributed by my partner in crime Messiah. Perhaps I will keep track of this growing number of coffees as we meet up with others on the journey.

  • E3 is kicking off this week and the excitement is growing! Who's doing what
    with that in conjuction with this over there with them and why!? Slide sat
    down in his special thinking chair to come up with some things that he'd
    like to see in store for EQ2 at E3.

    What would I like to see from e3 about EverQuest 2? I would love to see the
    game take some surprising turns in the way of improving certain aspects of
    what's already a great game. Skies the limit in terms of ideas for a game
    that has become so much a part of my life since early in its release. So
    far the Sony team has been pretty good about fitting new ideas into a
    constantly growing game, but we should never stop!
