  • I call this a Duh! case. It isn't easy to follow the case. I'll sum it up like this. NCSoft got sued last year. The case was over a potential account hack at a cyber cafe. Their login data had been stored in a file.

Now, with that said, there were no damages reported. This was a case of "something could have happened." The courts in Korea ruled that NCSoft would pay these five people a whopping $530 each.

I understand that NCSoft is appealing on principal, but c'mon! It's $530 bucks. You can read the entire story here.

  • Who's Who in Warhammer Online

With E3 on the way, the Community Manager's at TenTonHammer have all hired private investigators to check out the staff of their respective games, as well as hired goons to ransack the associated staff members houses for anything of interest... Sadly the Investigators were ineffective and the Goons got the address wrong. So here we have this week's common content article on some key Warhammer Online development staff...

Behind every game there is usually an associated group of people who have come together in order to make the best game possible, and sometimes there’s cases where a game is developed by that lone person surrounded by week old pizza in his parents basement...

You can read the entire article at Warhammer Online - TenTonHammer.

  • A Look at the Big CheeseToday all across the network you'll notice a focus on the men and women behind the games. While there are many men and women behind Vanguard: Saga of Heroes, Vanguard - TenTonHammer's focus today is on one person in particular. He's someone nearly everyone in the gaming world recognizes. Whether it's by the trademark beard, his contribution to the birth of a highly successful MMO, or his familar avatar outfitted in green chainmail. We're talking about Brad McQuaid of course, and AnomalousSilence did some digging to find out all he could about the man behind the birth of Everquest and his current project; Vanguard, Saga of Heroes.

  • John Tynes gives us a new milestone update on the official site.

Pirates of the Burning Sea is an ever-growing world. To build it we structure our work in milestones, which are blocks of work six to eight weeks long. Each milestone focuses on specific objectives in development, art, and world-building. As we create the game, we’ll tell you what we’re working on in the current milestone and what we’ve got planned for the next, so you can see all the cool new features that are coming down the pipeline and get an inside look at the creation of a new MMORPG.

  • There's No “Me” or “I” in MMORPG (But There Is An OMG…)

Having taking some time off Medeor, a writer on our Vanguard @ TenTonHammer site, is back and had time to look at what Multi Massive Online games meant to him and how he plays.Does it mean always having to interact with the community? Or is there more to it than just that?

When I was handed the idea to write about my definition of massively multiplayer, I really sat back and thought about how I interact and how I avoid interacting with others in games. Here's the deal though, does Massively Multiplayer mean I always have to hang with multi-players? Should I be able to solo, should we be able to get into a discreet instance of the world, should I be able to hole up in my office or room and not have to interact with anyone? (Oh wait, that's what I call life.)

Medeor shares with us his thoughts at Vanguard - TenTonHammer after reflecting on this assignment.

  • The man is a legend. You can't listen to him speak and not sit enraptured by his ideas. With that said, who else in this industry could scrap and almost finished game and start over? We will have full coverage on the new incarnation of Tabula Rasa at E3. Make sure you check back for that.

In the meantime, 1up has an interview with Richard Garriott. It's a good read so check it out.
