  • The Dwarves of Warhammer now have a happy home.

Hot off the press since the release of Warhammer Online Newsletter #5 is information on the Dwarven starting location of Ekrund. The scribes here at TenTonHammer (well just myself and a glass of pop) have put together some information on this newly described zone. Here's a quick snippet from the Ekrund page:

Ekrund is one of the more "solid" positions that the Dwarves hold in the Old World. Even with the constant sieges that the Greenskins lay against their fortress, the Dwarves continue to push inwards to launch attacks against their hated Greenskin enemies. As the fortress stays in Dwarf hands, more and more stunties continue to flood into the area to valiantly fight against any who would attack the fortress, or steal from the Dwarves.

On top of that; we now have a "Zone Information Page" setup here at Warhammer - TenTonHammer. You can find the Zone Information Page here.

  • Do0d! What R U talking about?!?!?

We've all seen the words. Some of us use them in game, but the cryptic language of PvP for the uninitiated is like calling Dell Technical support. You probably aren't going to understand a word they are saying. The Everquest 2 TenTonHammer staff put together a few of our favorite PvP terms you'll see and what they mean...to us.

Pwned: When one is pwned, they've been owned. When one is owned, they have just been beat down, ridiculed, or made to look plain silly in one form or another. One of the best forms of being pwned is the "bigger fish" instance.

Poor Shmitty is running around the outside of the Commonland gates trying to level his toon so he can kill bigger animals to feed his poor family. Harculeez the more experienced, egotistical, half-elf swashbuckler swoops in and impales Shmitty upon his rapier. Harculeez points and laughs at Shmitty's corpse then does a jig on his face. Kruunk, 8 levels higher than Harculeez, walks up behind the cocky half-elf and grinds him into the ground something fierce. Harculeez just got pwned. OH and feel free to add a 3 to pwn3d to look extra 1337.

  • The Lure of Lore

Mercurie of Vanguard - TenTonHammer takes a look at how lore in a MMO's seems to draw upon some of our own mythology, fantasy novels and folklore.

In other words, the lore can actually serve to comfort the nervous newbie who is just playing his or her first few hours of Vanguard. In drawing upon the familiar motifs, while making its own twists, Vanguard: Saga of Heroes insures that any player experiences the excitement of the new, while being comforted by something familiar.

  • It's shiny, shimmering, and full of stuff that wants to eat you.

In EverQuest 2, the Shimmering Citadel is a fabulous zone for higher end content. Don't know how to get up there or want to get your group killed repeatedly? Detailed maps and quest information await you! Take a glance as this guide to find out all you need to know.

The Shimmering Citadel is a magnificent island palace suspended high above Norrath, said to have been brought out by the Djinn and the Naga from the Plane of Sky. Wrought with many perils, the least of which is plummeting to your doom if you aren’t watching your step in the lower portion, this happens to be one of my favorite high end zones.

See the entire guide at EQ2 - TenTonHammer.

  • Middle Earth has so many fascinating places to visit. The world has a very rich environment. With that said, Turbine has released a new point of interest, Trestlebridge

Adventurers traveling north from the Bree-land along the mostly-abandoned Greenway will encounter a truly formidable barrier to further northerly travel: the dark cleft of Cirith Núr. Knifing between the North Downs and the southern regions of the shadowed and mysterious lands of Angmar, this dark cleft once held waters flowing out of Emyn Uial in the West. Over the ages, this mighty river has since receded, leaving only the sharp cliff edges and the uncertain depths below.

As a side note, the concept art that they have to go with the description is absolutely gorgeous!

  • I always look forward to updates on the Age of Conan site. I believe in the Funcom developers. AO may not have been the most popular game but it was impressive in it's depth of design and it's graphical beauty when it released. I think that Age of Conan will be similiar.

Anyway, they've put up a new gameplay preview. Ranged Combat

ost of the ranged combat stances see the action shift into a kind of first person view. The camera zooms into an over the shoulder or first person view and displays a targeting crosshairs. Here you aim with your weapon, and fire towards advancing opponents much like you might find in a FPS game (but not quite as fast-paced). This serves to try and bring the player "there", into the action, and into the world.

  • v14.104 of the Auto Assault beta client has been released and is available through the patcher or on the FTP site. You can read about all the things the patch fixes in the Patch Notes page. This patch features a lot of changes to the summoning system as well as some mission fixes and additions to Ground Zero.

It's so close to release I can taste it.. What does a post apocolyptic MMO taste like? It's salty.
