  • You know it's just like me to post an exclusive screenshot, PR it and forget to post news on it. One would think that I'm blonde. *wry grin*

Anyway! Granite Games was kind enough to send over a shot of a dueler behind the local bank. Go take a look at their gothic world!

  • Since I missed this on Friday and I'm really looking forward to this game and therefore I'm making sure you do too.. Here is the Gameplay Preview #2 Class Tree Explained

So how do you develop your character in Age of Conan?

The first thing you choose in your character development is your class. Here you can choose from Cimmerians, Aquilonians and Stygians. Cimmerian is Conans race. They are tall, grey-eyed, dark haired and fair skinned. They are typically tall, muscular and fierce. Aquilonians are the "Romans", if you like, and they represent the pinnacle of Hyborian culture. They are darker in skin, but they have a larger variation of skin and hair tones than the Cimmerians. Both the Cimmerians and the Aquilonians can choose from three different class types: Warrior, Priest or Thief archetypes.

  • MMORPG.com has a really great article this morning. It's actually a debate on guild favoritism. I've seen this myself and have laughed at the audacity.

Look at World of Warcraft's high-end raids and end-game content (as it stands now). They've become almost guild exclusive, as it is very difficult for a solo player to find a spot in a group of people who will not basically ignore him or try to boss him around (we're many, you're one, be grateful we let you come and do what we say). I know people who've left guilds where they really liked the people just to join a l33t'ist full of people they can't stand. Why? So they can get into the raid content. Is that the best motivation for people to join guilds?

Go take a look at the rest.

  • Everyone hunting Bunny Wabbits?

Nope, they're all on their way to San Jose. That's right lovies, today starts the beginning of game developers converging into one place to learn things that nobody has the right to know. It's called GDC and it's a journalistic paradise.

This upcoming week, you'll see exclusive interviews, impressions and all around parody of good gaming journalism. Be sure to stay tuned.

On a side note, it's good to be able to do news for you again today. The new Dell XPS 400 that I bought came with an extra goodie called a broken vid card fan. There were issues. I STILL don't know how to get my computer up on my local network and I have burn discs all over my desk. Someone forgot to label them. I er.. do it on purpose so that I can be rebellious against the system of organization. If you happen to know anything networking and have the time, shoot me an email I could use the help.

  • How will Vanguard handle your demise?

It's a bit morbid around the network today, death is topic of discussion.

Birds chirping high above and the rustle of leaves can be heard as I emerge from the tunnel that leads to the safety of home. My long robe sways slightly as the breeze catches the hem. I causously make my way down the hill to a well worn path. A slight buzzing can be heard, turning to my right I find a huge wasp.
Murmuring the incantation the wasp begins to choke. Angrily he begins to sting me, using my staff I begin to beat upon it until it falls lifeless to the ground. Victory! “Thwap” “Ouch! “Thawp” Turning I find myself face to face with an angry orc. My palms begin to sweat as I try to murmur the incantation, without success. In a few well placed blows he has me battered and beaten upon the grass, life slipping away.”

At Vanguard - Ten Ton Hammer, Niborea takes a look at her experiences with death in EQ and how it is currently being handled in Vanguard: Saga of Heroes.

  • Asbestos boats afloat on a burning sea.
Desi (Lucy, you've got some 'splaining to do!) let us know that Society of Gamers is taking questions for an interview with the developers of Pirates of the Burning Sea.

"Ok you scurvy dogs, here's the deal. From now until Saturday night, March 25th, Society Of Gamers will be taking questions concerning Pirates of the Burning Sea In this post only.
    http://boards.societyofgamers.com/showthread.php?t=2182

We will lock the thread when time is up and pick the good questions from what was submitted. We'll then send them to Flying Lab where a developer will give us a detailed response that we'll post as soon as we get it.

The answers will only be as good as the question, so put those pointy thinking caps on. Also, the person who has their question answered will win a Pirates of the Burning Sea t-shirt!

We will contact the winner via a forum Private Message on the SOG Forums and we'll need a mailing address from you.

Those who violate the forum rules will have their questions thrown out."

Fire your questions off to Society of Gamers and maybe you will win a T-shirt. No word yet if they are made of asbestos.

Death is a part of almost every MMORPG on the market currently,
it's an issue that affects us all, every time we log onto our respective games.
Death has really changed over the course of the years, every new game adding
something new, a change for better or for worse it seems.

With World of Warcraft, Blizzard has thrown at us their own way to penalize us through in game death, however, how far has it really gone since the days of Everquest? Have the gamers been getting it easy these past few years? Check out death editorial "'Tis Only a Flesh Wound" at WoW - TenTonHammer.

  • Dying to Play Guild Wars

Death is a part of life. It's also a part of most video games. Without a penalty for failure, the victories just don't mean as much. In this weekly Common Content editorial, we take a look at death, video games, and Guild Wars.

In the video game world, death is something to avoid. It's annoying, dang it. It's not, however, very scary. The stakes of game-death are so low that we can legitimately get a chuckle out of it, especially when it happens to someone else. Does that make us weird? Not really. It just means that we're talking about an entirely different kind of death.

we're dying for you too read "A Different Kind of Death" at Guild Wars - TenTonHammer!
