Ten Ton Hammer

  • It looks like Iowa and not surprising, Utah are jumping on the bandwagon to ban the sales of violent games to minors. Game Politics has the story.

Hogue's bill, HB 0257 is quite a bit different from most laws crafted to prevent kids from purchasing violent video games. Perhaps in response to the increasingly-heard "violent games as porn" drumbeat, Hogue's measure is designed to amend an existing Utah statute which makes distributing pornography and explicit nudity to minors a felony. Hogue's proposal adds "inappropriate violence" to the porn law.

Welp there you go folks. We're being lumped together with porn.

I'm going to go que up my "bomp chickee bom bomp" music and see you folks at the swingers club.

  • Gamer has a QNA with Turbine about the soon to be released title Dungeons & Dragons Online: Stormreach.

Don't you think that we're on the verge of entering another MMO games overflow? How many more games do you think that the market can sustain before it implodes?

Not really. The only major subscription MMO released since the since the end of 2004 was City of Villains, and it's not even a fantasy game.

I think some players will always feel that there's a game overflow, but that's just because they're good games out there these days. No one, not even the unemployed college student, can play them all. At the same time, no entertainment industry ever lost its way by providing good choices to the customer. As new games continue to grow the MMO marketplace, it will have room for more games, not fewer.

And folks... You can also read it in Hebrew. It just doesn't get any better than this.

Thank you to the multitude of people who wrote to me in the last couple of days. Thanks to your leadsI was able to dig up some additional information regarding the purchase of online game sites by companies who sell secondary market items.
First was this gem, from the IGE site itself. There you have it. They are linked as stated on the IGE website. You'd better printscreen it or copy it someplace. It likely won't be there tomorrow.

"This experience should prove invaluable to IGE and Ogaming Network as we move forward in solidifying our position as the worldwide industry leader in facilitating virtual commerce in multiplayer games and in providing superior internet-based content to the players of MMOs."

The Guild Hall, an OGaming affiliate has this little ditty from their site lead posted in their forums,

"...rest assured that although TGH is technically part of the OGaming network, we are, and will remain an independent site, meaning that our site design, staff, and day-to-day operation will remain under my control."

As yet, no sites have come forward to tell us they are "Gold Free", but I did find two that I frequent that have made that choice and posted them to the very short list below. If your site is gold free and covers MMOGs then please let us know. .

But if you play EVE and need some in-game money-- who doesn't?-- you need to mine some asteroids!  Ten Ton Hammer's own "General" Lee usually takes a background role, whipping up the vast array of fine graphics you see on our network. But Darren comes to the forefront to share some of his EVE mining secrets!"
    • DDO: Sorcerer Class Guide

    • Irth To TenTonHammer, Part 2

"I feel a little bit like a Ginsu knife commercial spokesman listing everything this interview has in store for you, so... hey, it's late and I'm gonna go with it! Not only does Thomas Gale, artist for Irth Online (the newest MMO to hit the market, a game known for its unique skill system and one-of-a-kind PvP setup) discuss the tools and knowledge it takes to become a quality game artist, he'll even tell you what makes Irth artistically unique among its peers.

But wait, there's more! Irth Online's developer, Magic Hat Software, was kind enough to send along five exclusive screenshots for your viewing pleasure.

    • Auto Assault: Interview With The Regular Joe

"This week we interview someone really special to the Auto Assault community. Someone you might not know either. That's right, we interview the casual Auto Assault player taggle. Noone popular, just someone who was graced with the ability to play the Auto Assault closed beta. Even though he doesn't have the best loot or even his own brand of mouses, he has realstic views and opinions on the game. So this month, let's look at the views and opinions of just a regular Joe of Auto Assault."
    • Auto Assault: Roadstop Comedy Club - Part 2

"Last we left Devrek he had just gotten a new job at the Roadstop Comedy Club. They probably made a mistake by hiring him.

Nevertheless, this week we bring you another episode of the epic adventure of Devrek. This stand-up comic is trying to make his harsh living in the wastelands through the power of comedy and his hate of the penguin race. Join him this week as he discuses the fashion of duct tape hats and how penguins can read your mind."

Now on to the real world. You can't make this stuff up.

As always, thanks for visiting TenTonHammer.com,

  • Mine with your mind!
EVE Online has long been favored by truly casual players (for its offline training system friendly to those with little time to level) and truly hardcore gamers alike (hardcore gamers enjoy the game's intense PvP action). But if you play EVE and need some in-game money-- who doesn't?-- you need to mine some asteroids! Ten Ton Hammer's own "General" Lee usually takes a background role, whipping up the vast array of fine graphics you see on our network. But Darren comes to the forefront to share some of his EVE mining secrets!

The objective of this series is to cover the mechanics of the fine art of mining in EVE. I'll touch upon some of the trials and tribulations that I've encountered going through the process as a Galantie character. I've taken a distributed approach to exploring the different aspects of the game. My expertise in mining is not complete but after a year of play, it's fair to say that I've learned a few tricks.

All of the points made below are from the perspective of a solo miner. If you're a member of a thriving corporation that always travels in packs then most of the issues below will not apply. If you're like me and don't have time to support yet another demanding relationship in your life and simply want to fly around in space in your spare time then the info below might aid in the "fun" side of the experience.

Check out Darren's mining guide here!
