  • Does it make me nervous that all of these screens look absolutely gorgeous? Uh.. yeah.. I can see my cash clearing the hands of the toadies at Comp USA while I upgrade my computer so I can actually see this game in all it's glory. Yeah.. I'm nervous.

Worthplaying has 16 new screenshots for your purveyance.

Give it a little time though. They don't seem to be jumping to full size when you click on them.

  • "Make it fun, and make it fun for all player levels." That's all I need to hear to at least give a new MMO a try! There is no such thing as too much fun and from what IGN says in their Preview It definately looks good enough.

Being careful not to tread on the traditional fantasy territory already established so well by WoW, EverQuest and the like, CoS takes place in a very imaginative fantasy environment populated by planetoids whirling through the Deadspell Storm. The planetoids, or "shards," are the remnants of an empire controlled by eight demons, and you'll start out with access to a couple of those. But before you do that, you'll be designing your character. And interestingly, your outfit has no connection to your abilities.

  • Let's hope you never run into the dreaded GamerGod during a dungeon crawl.
GamerGod makes some good points about why Dungeons & Dragons Online: Stormreach satisfies its DnD heritage and makes for a good MMORPG.

I’ve played D&D for as long as I can remember, and I always wanted someone to make a good D&D game where I played one character in a party and went out adventuring. I always dreamt that one day there would be a totally interactive D&D world where my character could live and meet people, slay mighty dragons, and have people recognize who I was. I've been thinking a lot about what I know of this game, and the thing that I like most is how this MMO has set itself apart from the rest. Most of the elements in DDO are headed in different directions to other MMO's; it forces you to form parties, real time combat, no mounts, and no houses. It's a risky strategy, considering many people play MMO's to buy houses, ride horses, and farm gold and become an almighty ruler of the game - but I think it's a brilliant idea and a brilliant-looking game. For many people, this game will not live up to their hopes or expectations, and although I haven’t played the game yet I'm eagerly awaiting the release. What do I think? Is DDO worth all the hype? My answer is that my dream may no be longer a dream.

  • Yes, I'm bitter!
Eurogamer gives EverQuest 2: Desert of Flames a 7/10 for lack of low-to-mid-level content. This is like the 15th review I've read that's all about how great DoF is, then, bam! it hits the "too high level" concrete bridge abutment. Every MMO expansion is going to be geared to the top tier of the playerbase, folks. If you can point out one expansion that's absolutely chock full of lowbie content, email me and I'll eat my hat or something!

Like the Trials of Obi-Wan expansion for Star Wars Galaxies, Desert of Flames falls down slightly not because it's not entertaining, not because it lacks content, not because it doesn't play well, but because its scope is too narrow to include everyone. If you're a high level character who's done everything in EQ2, then this expansion is a must, but hey, next time guys, release something that all your players can enjoy.

By this logic, "The Burning Crusade" ought to get a 7/10 too, but I betcha it won't; it's WoWftw. Blah. /rant off Eurogamer scorches EverQuest 2's "Desert of Flames" expansion.
Other links I won't rant so much about!

  • The Official Site has a Dragon Lair Walkthrough for all of the greedy, horde hungry Dragons out there.

    What Are You Waiting For?
Double-click your plot entrance! You dragons who are friendly to bipeds might recognize the interface!

Constructing a lair consists of these steps:

    Creating a plan
    Checking the planned layout
Committing the planned structures to be built
Busting your tail and your friends' tails while making and applying materials!

Dragon Lairs just went in recently so it's a good idea to check this one out.

  • Gamespot has a Hands-On Preview of Auto Assault today. Find out what they have to say about Character Creation, Opening Levels and Graphics.

The entire character-creation system has been revamped since we last saw it, and now it looks as though it's close to final. The system gives you plenty of control to tweak your character's appearance, and you can adjust your body style, the scale or size of your character, his or her skin color, as well as their primary and secondary color. Then there are various hair styles, hair colors, accessories (such as helmets and mouth pieces), and more that you can select. After that, though, you can tweak your vehicle's colors and paint scheme, as well as choose from an assortment of wheel rims.

If you're a post apocalyptic, run things over with your Hummer fan, visit our Auto Assault Fan-site!
