  • David Allen was the driving force behind Horizons, is the co-founder of QOL (Quest Online, LLC), and is on a mission to spread the word about his latest endeavor, Alganon. For every player that's complained about games not having enough depth of meaning, being forced to fulfill the same party role day after day, or wants a chance for their name to forever live on in a game's history, it's time to listen up. Eric "Dalmarus" Campbell sat down with David and Alganon Lead Designer, Hue Henry, to get the latest scoop on this ambitious new title.

Alganon is 100% original IP and that actually gave us a lot of wiggle room for what we could do. Our goal was to create a living, breathing world, to where if you chose one side or the other, there was a reason for it and there were connections. In Alganon, there are deities associated with the races, there are reasons behind your participation, there's history to it as far as where your race comes from, what your obligations are, who your enemies are. Alganon really was a lore-based game as a whole.

  • Dungeons and Dragons Online: Stormreach, originally released in February of 2006 by Turbine, has recently joined the ranks of the free-to-play as Dungeons and Dragons: Eberron Unlimited. Since the release of the F2P game, players have swarmed back to DDOU. If you've ever had an interest in returning to DDO, or trying the game out for the first time, there couldn't be a better time to do so since there’s no longer a subscription fee holding you back. There are always plenty of players to group with and being able to play a triple-A MMOG of this caliber is rarely done for free. Join Eric "Dalmarus" Campbell as he dives back into the game by hitching up his britches and taking on a white dragon that's been terrorizing the local townsfolk.

Karthos Village is under attack by the same white dragon that destroyed your ship, thus stranding you here in the first place. He's frozen the docks and apparently has no plans for allowing it to thaw out any time in the near future. If you want to have any hope of getting off Karthos Island, it looks like you're going to have to take care of that dragon yourself.

  • Side scrolling MMOGs aren't anything new in North America, but they're also not considered mainstream either. There have been others in the past such as Maple Story, but THQ*ICE is the first to release a 3D side scroller with Dragonica Online. It may have the look of a child's game but in actuality its depth goes farther than most gamers would suspect. Is this enough to save it from being relegated to the back of the short bus in today's F2P market? Join Eric "Dalmarus" Campbell as he hops in to unleash the beast.

I grew up in these mysterious hangouts called arcades when I was a kid. Back then, we lived by the quarter and died by the lack of continues, because back in my day they didn't exist. For any other arcade dweller of old, or even the modern gamer that may have parents who torture them with some of those ancient games, it's impossible to not feel like the combat in Dragonica Online is a cross between Street Fighter and Double Dragon.

  • You can create the greatest game in the universe, but if it isn’t full of more loot than players can imagine, you’re going to be fighting an uphill battle with your playerbase the moment it releases. We managed to track down Star Trek Online Producer, Dan Stahl, and System Designer, Joe Harrington, and convinced them to enlighten us on the importance gear plays in this upcoming title from Cryptic Studios.

Ten Ton Hammer: How exactly does gear work? Are there slots for your character's gear such as a chest slot, leg slot, etc? Joe Harrington: Yeah. You already know there's space and there's ground gameplay. On the ground, your captain avatar has multiple slots like a shield slot for a personal shield, a body slot for things like body armor. It has a kit slot for the various types of kits your class can use. It has a weapon slot with a primary and alternate so you can switch back and forth. You also can equip your away team members. They have similar slots but not quite as many. They have a single gun slot, a shield slot, a body armor slot and a weapon slot. We also have consumable slots where you can slot up consumables so you can use them even though they’re in your inventory.

  • Unique characters, turn-based combat, and a twisted sense of humor are certainly not the normal descriptions used when describing an MMOG, but DOFUS certainly deserves them.
