Clare, I'd love to hear your point of view and justification of perpetrating the average "gamer girl" as sexy kittens in lingerie. I cannot speak for all women gamers, but in my own opinion, the amount of cleavage on the site prompted me to believe that this was a site made by men, with women on it, for men. I couldn't see beyond the plastered on quasi sex appeal and cleavage to get to where the site addressed issues that would be of some importance to women who game.
Not that women who game NEED a site like that. I get along fairly well just reading up on general gaming issues and topics because I don't actually game with my tits or vagina.
For no particular reason, I just wanna tell Mrs. Coyote that I love her. You are the coolest.
*hides from Coyote*
I imagine that free-to-play games have a low quality of community because they are basically toss away games. When I pay a monthly fee, I'm logging in regularly to make the most of that fee. I NEED it to be worth what I pay.
I bought Guild Wars, played it a few times, then passed it on to my kiddo who plays it occasionally for something to do. I feel no need to log in regularly to play because it was a one time cost, and no more or less significant to me than games I buy for my platform systems that are played a bit then put in the library of forgotten games.
Sort of lends to the old adage of, you get what you pay for.
I gotta be honest. Microtransaction games scare the crap out of me. All by themselves, there is no harm that I can think of. New ways to pay and play bring in more gamers that wouldn't have otherwise existed, and I love that for the MMO community.
However, I see these leaking into the typical monthly fee games, and EverQuest II is a good example of this. Exchange servers added for player to player transactions (with a small fee from SOE) on TOP of what people already pay for. Is it out of the realm of possibility that game companies will expand on this and we will start seeing games that charge $15 a month and then still go on to horde popular content, selling it bit by bit for a some fee? I don't think so, and the idea of paying more on top of what I already pay makes me cringe!
Ralsu, if MMOs start charging that much monthly, I'll have to rethink all the MMOs I play!
Holy hell Coyote, how'd you nab a pic of me fishing??? *laughs..chokes..coughs* Yeah..I wish.
Congrats honey on 200. A couple of 'em were even funny sometimes. ;)
