My fighter in all his conformist glory. Divine Souls is an action-packed free-to-play (F2P) game developed by GamePrix and published by Outspark. Taking place in a hybrid fantasy/sci-fi setting, the player takes on the role of a divine soul seeking to protect the Divine Matter from cursed souls, but don’t let the backstory get in the way of what’s really important – kicking ass! The game promises non-stop action through its console-style combat system and it delivers, but there are some underlying issues that keep the game from breaking out.

An adorable little Anima. Do you like giant mecha? Do you love playing in a fantasy setting? Do you want an freakily powerful, Alma-like little girl companion to follow you around with mindless devotion and the ability to set your foes on fire? If you answer yes to all three questions, then you might be be interested in Prius Online, the latest Korean import being distributed by gPotato. This F2P (free-to-play) game is currently in beta and Ten Ton Hammer got the opportunity to give it a hands-on preview.

I’ve been waiting eagerly for Homefront, the first person shooter developed by Kaos Studios and published by THQ, to come out for several reasons. First, the storyline written by John Milius (Apocalypse Now, Conan the Barbarian, The Wind and the Lion, Jeremiah Johnson, the Rome tv series, and Red Dawn) is incredibly intriguing. It is the year 2027 and over the last 13 years, America declined in power while North Korea rose in strength and forcibly annexed pretty much the entire Pacific Rim. The Greater Korean Republic has attacked the United States and now occupies this once-proud country. The gamer plays as a pivotal member of the Resistance, who is fighting to expel the commie horde from the good ol’ USA.

Fernando Paiz, Executive Producer for Dungeons and Dragons Online, has released his 2011 State of the Game Letter. In it he discusses the upcoming Update 9 and the new crafting system coming out. Other topics include the successful launch of the French and German markets, the upcoming adventure packs (the next two are Xoriat themed), and the reduction in the casting cost of most spells. Most interesting is that he mentions that there are 3 more updates scheduled for this year and that a great deal of work has already been done on them. Also brought up are Challenge Quests similar in theme to the Crystal Cove that will be introduced for some fun time-sensitive challenges. Lastly, players will be able to enter the enclave of House Cannith, the technologically advanced House that created the Warforged. Looks like 2011 is going to be a banner year for DDO! You can read the full letter here.

Newbie's Guide to DDO Part 1 - The Basics Part 2 - Classes & Races Part 3 - Skills, Feats, & Enhancements Ah, welcome back, my friend! Sorry for not being here earlier, but last night’s adventure at Madame Rissa’s House of Unearthly Delights took a greater toll on me that I had expected. I, Prelixin, the greatest loremaster in the realm, am not quite as young as I used to be. Well, let us continue delving deeper into the world of Eberron, the setting for Dungeons and Dragons Online, and I will further illuminate your mind with knowledge of how and why things work they do. In our first meeting, we discussed the method that the gods chose to see if you succeed or not in your endeavors (die rolls), the ability scores, and saving throws. Our second talk revolved around the various classes and races that you can choose to play in DDO. Now let us turn our attention to those vital abilities that will, if chosen and used correctly, make you an even greater hero that will live in legends: skills, feats, and enhancements.

Players have been clamoring for a robust crafting system in Dungeons and Dragons Online and Turbine has answered their pleas. With the upcoming Update 9, Turbine not only adds a crafting system that should not only please players, but still remains true to the pen-and-paper roots of the game. Not only is there a new crafting system, there is also a brand new adventure pack featuring the first appearance of a hideous new creature, new enhancements, tweaks to combat, and a host of other changes and new things. I was lucky enough to get a hands-on preview of the new content from Fernando Paiz, Executive Producer, and Erik Boyer, Producer.
