Bungie today finally revealed details about their upcoming shooter project named Destiny. A new developer video explores the story that will make up the decimated world of Destiny and what role the players will play in keeping humanity’s light from finally being extinguished.

Destiny is built around co-operative gameplay, voluntary PvP, and a shared world with other players, which makes a constant connection to the Internet to play a necessity. Destiny will utilize mobile devices to some extent, so expect more to be revealed about that later.

In addition to the new video, Bungie also announced the start of pre-orders for Destiny. Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 users can pre-order from a GameStop, Amazon, and Best Buy for $59.99, unfortunately, there doesn’t appear to be a PC version at this time. Eurogamer reports that when questioned about the possibility of a PC version, Bungie COO Pete Parsons said: "We would absolutely love to be on the PC. If you talk to the people upstairs, we play it on all platforms. So, stay tuned."

Update: IGN has posted a FAQ with a few more details about Destiny.
