Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen’s Kickstarter page was recently updated with some new game information. This week the team lifted the veil on one of its races, the ogre. Described as a nomadic race of barbarian behemoths, the ogre race comes from the world of Gruundark but now reside on Icehammer Steppes. Ogres are nearly twice the size of a normal man and have an anarchist view of the world and tend to be rage-filled beasts.

In addition to the ogre reveal, Visionary Realms also unveiled the cities of Armada and Archway in Pantheon. You can read all about that here and get a peek at a piece of concept art that shows why Archway earns its namesake.

If you’re like me and miss the days of slower combat now shadowed by the age of mad rushing through dungeons while pulling and killing as many mobs as possible, Pantheon may be more your speed. Another update put forth over the weekend lays out the plans to improve combat to make it more tactical and slow it down by reaching to the past for inspiration.

Combat in Pantheon will be built around a desire to change things up in the MMO space. Contemporary MMOs have become very fast paced and, for lack of a better term, spammy. While the combat is still reactionary in nature it tends to break down to focusing on your rotation while moving left or right. With Pantheon the desire is to shift things back to a slower paced combat where the frequency of ability execution is slower and your rotation is dictated more by your response to the encounter than just a sequence of abilities.

If all that strikes your gamer chord you’ll have a chance to learn more about the MMORPG later this week. Visionary Realms CCO Brad McQuaid will be heading to Reddit on Wednesday, January 29th, 2014 for an Ask Me Anything (AMA) session. The AMA is scheduled to start at 1PM PT.

In addition to the AMA, Visionary Realms has teamed up with the Rob and Dan Show on Twitch for a livestream game creation session from the desktop of Pantheon Senior Artist Vu Nguyen. Other Pantheon team members will also be present for the discussion. The game design Q&A session is scheduled to air tonight on Twitch at 4PM PT.

Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen has currently risen over $240k of its $800k Kickstarter goal with 25 days to go. While you wait for those other events, be sure to read our exclusive Pantheon interview with Brad McQuaid.
