Ten Ton Hammer Video of the Day

Dying Light was a beacon of light at a rather dismal VGX show.

If there is a single buzzword that has already become the focus of the latest console generation it would most certainly be 1080p. And Techland offered that up with their presentation demo of Dying Light as one of the brighter moments of an otherwise painful 3-hour Spike VGX show over the weekend. The video clocks in at just under 7 minutes and is filled fluent gameplay with lots of zombie-killing goodness.

If you’re not familiar with Dying Light, it in some ways embodies some gameplay elements of the Dead Island series mixed with Mirror’s Edge. With its parkour style gameplay, Dying Light allows players to quickly move around the world by climbing buildings and leaping over obstructions while at the same time using fluid movements to attack zombies that may be obstructing their path.

During the day, players can traverse the urban environment of the open world setting to search for supplies, craft weapons, and defend against the infected. At night, however, the hunter becomes the hunted as the infected become more aggressive and other more vicious creatures only appear after the sun goes down. Unfortunately, the demo only previewed only shows the daytime gameplay, but it’s still worth a few minutes of your time if you’re a fan of zombie games.

Dying Light will launch on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC sometime in 2015. You can learn more about the game on the Dying Light website.

I tend to enjoy horror games of all types, but I have a special fondness for a good zombie survival game. If you have a suggestion or a video that you think deserves attention in our VotD series, be sure to hit me up at the information below.
