Top 5 Best Uses of the Boost to 90 Ability
When the Warlords of Draenor expansion launches sometime later this year for World of Warcraft it will come with a “Boost to 90” ability. This ability allows all players that purchase the expansion to immediately boost one new or existing character to level 90.
Obviously this is a huge ability and therefore one that should be considered carefully. So, what is the best way to use this immense perk? Let’s examine the top 5 things to consider when looking at what character you should boost to 90.
5) New Players (Get your friends in the game)
This is an obvious boon to new players, as well as an obvious ploy by Blizzard (a smart one at that) to help draw new players into World of Warcraft. Currently it is really hard for an established player to get new friends into the game due to the time required before they can actually play with you in the current late game content. It is also really hard for new players to join by themselves and get much multi-player action out of this supposed MMO due to the fact that there are so few other low level players out there.
This boost to 90 is a great time to convince friends and family to enter Azeroth, or Draenor in this case, to come adventure with you. From the second they load up the game they will be able to jump right in and start where you start levelling in the expansion.
4) Returning Players
We all have friends that played World of Warcraft and have over time drifted away. Some of them come back to chat once in a while, but never get back into it because they are either maxed at 85, 80, or even 70. They would like to come back to the game, but don’t want to play by themselves for a long period of time before being able to group or raid with players they know, or before they find a new guild to play with.
The boost to 90 will allow them to get a character right up to level 90 and start the expansion with all of the rest of us.
3) Playing a class you always wanted to
Who doesn't want to play
as a kung-fu panda?
Many WoW players have that class they always wanted to play, but just never quite find the time for it. This could be a class you wanted to have as an alt for the battlegrounds or arenas, a backup class for raiding, a class for gathering or professions, or maybe just a class you wanted to play the odd time for fun. No matter the reason, this will give you the ability to have that class you always wanted to, without having to invest any additional time.
There are so many options here, and it really is whatever you really have always wanted to play. For me, that choice would be a Monk. Since I have a max level Paladin, Druid, Warlock, Death Knight, and Priest, all my basic class requirements are covered. When the Monk class came out, I really loved how they played, I even started one, but then end game content took over. Getting all my raiding characters to the max level became priority, and know that I know that boost to 90 is coming, I can’t make myself play through the Monk past their starting zone. Best of all a Monk fits in with the best 2 ways to use your boost to 90 as well, as shown below.
2) Create a Tank or Healer
Every group needs a Tank or Healer in it, and that means that every player should have at least one of them, and preferably one of each. It is important to have a Tank or Healer class that you like though and one that you will play over time. Therefore make your choice carefully and consider what other specs and uses the class you pick can do.
If you want to have a tank you can pick from a Warrior, Paladin, Death Knight, Druid, or Monk.
If you want to play a healer you can pick from a Priest, Shaman, Monk, Paladin, or Druid.
Each has their own strengths and weaknesses and since so many class changes are coming in Warlords of Draenor it is not really possible at this time to say which will be the strongest in each role. Therefore pick the one that you like the play style most.
A Paladin is a great class
since it can tank, heal, or DPS.
1) Create a Hybrid Class
Even more important than just having a tank or a healer is having both! Therefore if you don’t have a tank or healer already, then I strongly suggest using your boost to 90 ability to get a class that can do it all. Since these classes can Tank or Heal as well as DPS these classes are by far the best use of a boost to 90, no matter if you are a new or existing player.
Unless you already have a Hybrid class and are able to tank, heal, or DPS already, this is what you should be using your boost to 90 for.
This means getting a Druid, Monk, or Paladin. All of these classes can do it all.
