Welcome, fellow travelers, to
the majestic, yet deadly, Utgarde Keep. Utgarde Keep is filled with
many dangerous foes, but this guide is here to provide you a quick look
at the denizens that make up the ‘trash mobs’ of
this particular dungeon. Don’t let the moniker of trash mobs
fool you though. These entities are extremely deadly and capable of
putting a painful end to your adventure. For each creature,
we’ll provide its health, mana (if applicable), type, and
perhaps a special note or two about it. When fighting these mobs, the
tactics are pretty straightforward. Beat them down as quickly as you
can! Even if the creature has a special attack or two, it normally
doesn’t alter the plan of attack. If a different tack is
called for in combat, it will be listed in the notes for that
particular creature. Well, enough talk, let’s get to the
beasties!
style="width: 200px; height: 343px;">
Ironhelm
Type:
Humanoid Warrior
Health: 65165
Notes:
Nothing special. Ironhelms hit for usually between 2772 to 3674
damage. They can do an attack (Ringing Slap) that disrupts spellcasting
for 5 seconds.
style="width: 200px; height: 243px;">
Metalworker
Type:
Humanoid Warrior
Health: 65165
Notes:
Normal trash mob. Metalworkers can hit for between 900 to 4090
damage. They can enrage themselves, increasing their attack speed and
damage.
style="width: 200px; height: 272px;">
Weaponsmith
Type:
Humanoid Warrior
Health: 65165
Notes:
Nothing too special. They hit pretty hard, averaging around 6184
per shot. They have the ability to disarm you for 5 seconds, stun you
for 5 seconds, or hit 2 adjacent opponents at the same time.
style="width: 200px; height: 239px;">
Forge Master
Type:
Humanoid Warrior
Health: 63000
Notes: Forge
Masters don’t use weapons. Instead, they can
inflict fire damage to all enemies within 8 yards.
style="width: 200px; height: 150px;">
Proto-Drake
Type:
Dragonkin Warrior
Health:
130,330
Notes:
Enslaved Proto-Drakes hit pretty hard, from between 5261 to 7422
damage. In addition, they can breathe fire in their front arc. If
you’re not the tank, it’s best to attack these from
behind after the tank turns the drake around.
style="width: 200px; height: 226px;">
Handler
Type:
Humanoid Paladin
Health: 65165
Mana: 4081
Notes:
Nothing too special. Handlers can throw their weapon up to 25
yards. In addition, they can increase an ally’s attack speed,
but that increase comes at their ally taking shadow damage at the same
time. Their melee attack can reduce your attack effectiveness for a
short time.
style="width: 200px; height: 276px;">
Runecaster
Type:
Humanoid Paladin
Health: 65165
Mana: 4081
Notes: They
can do an AoE fire damage spell. In addition, they can cast
a rune of protection on an ally, absorbing damage for a short time
period. Within a mob, these should be your priority. Kill them, sheep
them, or whatever you want. You want to neutralize this guy unless you
like your skin getting charred up.
style="width: 200px; height: 273px;">
Type:
Humanoid Warrior
Health: 65165
Notes:
Nothing too special, but these guys do have a small wrinkle to
them. They can throw a bomb! These bombs explode for between 7400 to
8600 fire damage. They can also blind you for up to 3 seconds or until
you take damage, such as an exploding bomb.
style="width: 200px; height: 210px;">
Type: Undead
Warrior
Health: 13033
Notes: These
guys are pretty weak. They have an attack which can slow
your movement and reduce your strength. The best way to take out the
ghouls is to just use your AoE attacks on them.
style="width: 200px; height: 290px;">
Type:
Humanoid Warrior
Health: 65165
Notes:
Overseers can use a Battle Shout to increase the attack power of
nearby allies for up to 20 seconds, which means they can increase the
effectiveness of Tunneling Ghouls. They can also use a Demoralizing
Shout, which reduces the melee attack power of nearby foes. In
addition, they can also charge into combat, stunning their target for a
couple of seconds.
style="width: 200px; height: 218px;">
Type: Undead
Warrior
Health: 6516
Notes:
Annoying little buggers that hop around like insane
grasshoppers. They hit you for between 934 to 2353 damage. The best way
to deal with them is with a quick AoE.
style="width: 200px; height: 181px;">
Type: Beast
Warrior
Health: 16291
Notes: They
can leap into combat from a distance and they can also
enrage themselves, thus doubling their attack speed for 12 seconds. In
addition, they are very good at detecting people who are in stealth.
style="width: 200px; height: 236px;">
Type:
Humanoid Warrior
Health: 65165
Notes: On
the average, Bonecrushers hit for 2734 damage. They also have
a special attack which hits all nearby enemies for slightly increased
damage. Lastly, they can use an ability, Head Crack, to reduce your
stamina for 20 seconds.
style="width: 200px; height: 253px;">
Type:
Humanoid Warrior
Health: 65165
Notes:
Heartsplitters can throw their weapons up to 35 yards, hitting
you for between 5655 to 6345 damage. Ouch! They also have another
attack which hits for 4-5 times weapon damage, plus reducing your armor
for up to 20 seconds.
style="width: 200px; height: 132px;">
Type:
Humanoid Warrior
Health: 65165
Notes:
Riders are essentially Dragonflayer Heartsplitters
who’ve decided to ride a cool looking mount. Their attacks
are exactly the same as a normal Heartsplitter.
style="width: 200px; height: 194px;">
Type:
Humanoid Mage
Health: 52130
Mana: 8979
Notes:
Spiritualists are ranged DPS. They can hurl a lightning bolt for
damage, cast a flame attack (on a single target) for some DOT (damage
over time), and can heal an ally. Just like the Runecaster,
Spiritualists should be taken care of first.
There you go, my friends. A complete listing of the creatures that make
up the trash mobs of Utgarde Keep. The method of attack should remain
pretty constant throughout the Keep. The only creatures that require
any real strategy are the Enslaved Proto-Drakes (attack from behind)
and the spellcasters (Spiritualists and Runecasters). Weaker creatures,
such as Tunneling Ghouls and Frenzied Geists, can be quickly dispatched
with some AoE. Good luck and good fortune!
