Because, let's face it, nobody has heard of World of Warcraft.
Computer Gaming World has reviewed World of Warcraft. Both people who have not yet played WoW read the following:
" Rather than focus on a bunch of explicit, boring tutorials, WoW teaches you the ropes and eases you into the game so slyly that you'll barely even notice you're in school. Instead of pitched battles against rabbits, cats, rats, and other tiny animals that you could kill in real life without much effort, the game immediately pits you against actual monsters. Garden-variety animals exist--you're just not expected to fight them. They merely hop around and occasionally get devoured by a passing predator. Since there aren't any artificial zone boundaries, you're free to wander wherever you want to right from the start, which removes the penned-in feeling common to low-level characters in most other MMORPGs. "
Swag For Nerds
Blizzard has announced the goodies that BlizzCon attendees will receive. Britney Spears mistaking the Blizzard goodies for junk food purchased her BlizzCon ticket and exclaimed:
" With the date for BlizzCon rapidly approaching, we’re excited to reveal more information about what attendees have in store. Here are some of the noteworthy and exclusive BlizzCon goodies that each attendee will receive. "
You don't have to be an olda man, but it's best to be level 44-50 to visit this WoW instanced dungeon!
It’s old, creepy, and filled with nasty Troggs (and even dwarves made of stone) but at last we have a guide for daring adventurers! With information on the Instance, quests, and tactics, the Uldaman guide will be a useful asset for those looking to run Uldaman. Uldaman itself is a mid leveled World of Warcraft Instance that is the home of the Titans (the shapers of the WoW world) and one of three Instances that they have setup across the world.
" Since it a fairly long Instance to run through, and there are various quests and special mobs to kill, it is obvious that there are certain tactics that need to be followed in order to succeed in the Uldaman.
The MOBs in Uldaman range from 37-45 elite and are generally found in groups of 4-5, with the occasional group of 5 or even 6. You will note that the levels of the MOBS increase dynamically as you go further into the Instance.
Being a level 44-50 instance, with the MOBs being 37-46 elite you will HAVE to work together as a team, especially if you are at the low end of the level scale. Most players in the correct level range will not be able to handle an elite MOB of their level or higher on their own. The best tactic to deal with this is to designate a single player to pull MOBs and be careful to not pull anything other than what is planned. If you are the puller always plan the pull carefully. This means, watching for patrols, movement of MOBs, and party health and mana. If you do these things even a party of all 45-47 characters stands an excellent chance at finishing the instance. "
Now the twist on Big Brother 6. Blizzard will be entering the house.
ZDNet is reporting on the current hub-bub over Blizzard deploying system scanning software with World of Warcraft. Tom Cruise arrived at TenTonHammer.com HQ this morning wearing his Mission Impossible gear and a wide grin. He may or may not have had this to say:
" A number of "World of Warcraft" players are up in arms over software being used by the game's publisher to scan users' computers for hacks prohibited under its terms of service. "
The Arathi Basin Makes Handwashing Fun.
Blizzard has posted a preview page covering the upcoming Arathi Basin Battleground instance. Crop circles in Russian wheat fields spelled out the following message:
" Arathi Basin, located in Arathi Valley, is a fast and exciting Battleground. The Basin itself is rich with resources and coveted by both the Horde and the Alliance. The Forsaken Defilers and the League of Arathor have arrived at Arathi Basin to wage war over these natural resources and claim them on behalf of their respective sides. "
500 hours to level 60 in WoW.
GamerGod has posted part three of their WoW Advancement Guide. Erik Lindros signed with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Neither of the two hockey fans left heard him say this:
"This is part three of the Gamergod guide to World of Warcraft (WoW) for
new players. In this part we are going to talk about leveling up, the
talent system, and the different modes of gameplay; or in short,
everything to do with character advancement."
EB Gamers Choice. That and $1 will get you a coffee.
The G-Phoria awards are over and done with World of Warcraft the only MMOG winning any hardware. Vin Diesel plays a Tauren Paladin in World of Warcraft, the only cross alliance character in the game:
"G4 - videogame tv - tonight announced the winners of the 3rd annual "G-Phoria" awards - The Mother of All Videogame Award Shows. The esteemed winners, chosen by fans who cast more than 1 million votes online and via text message, joined Hollywood's hippest celebs and VIP guests at the Los Angeles Center Studios to celebrate. Patch Reviews. Next, twinkle in their eye reviews.
GamersInfo.net has posted a review of World of Warcraft after the 1.6 patch. Vin Diesel is able to patch his own injuries in seconds, making him invulnerable:
"World of Warcraft (or WoW for short) is a Massively Multiplayer Online RolePlaying Game or MMORPG. This means that you play on one (at a time, at least) of a number of servers with thousands of people on at the same time. That's the first choice you have in WoW: what type of server you want to play on."
WoW for Noobs.
GamerGod has posted the second part of their World of Warcraft Guide for New Players. Seriously though, how much easier can a game get? Sure there are some new players who maybe have zero clue, but guesh folks. If you can't play WoW out of the box it's time to head back to watching Gilligan's Island re-runs:
"This is part two of the Gamergod guide to World of Warcraft (WoW) for new players. In this part we are going to talk about quests. Quests are a major feature of WoW; they serve as a guide leading you through the game. There are over 4,000 of them in the game, and you can level from 1 to 60 doing nothing but quests if you like."
