Several members of the Age of Conan team are taking some time off this summer to enjoy the weather and some much needed downtime. But the summer lull won’t last forever and this week Game Director Joel Bylos served up a short update to keep players in the development loop. Bylos’ update is short and to the point this week and one of the big items coming up in August is the finalized goals for server merges that should be nailed down by the end of the month. Once the mergers begin, expect to see at least 24 hours of downtime.

The Coils of Ubah Khan dungeon is complete and ready for release and three other dungeons are in the development queue with the Caravan Raiders, Scorpion Caves and the Halls of Eternal Frost, which should hit testlive once Coils deploys to live servers. Bylos also touched on improvements to animation for The Slithering Chaos, the new Achievement System, and the progress on the new Events System.

As I mentioned in the update after the anniversary, the functionality to trigger events without a server downtime has been added to the Age of Conan codebase. In the spirit of this, we have prepared several new events and once the servers are merged, we will start to trigger them every so often. Keep your eyes open for new events popping up in Hyboria!
