Defiance Developer Diary Explains the MMO Shooter

Defiance is called an MMO shooter, but what is that? The Trion World devs try to answer that question in the latest developer diary video. According to Narrative Designer Trick Dempsey, “Defiance is a third person shooter first and an MMO second.” Despite that, Defiance does embody the essence of MMOs with its persistent world and massive player battles, but it also looks to have some of the more action-style gameplay elements that you would expect to see more in traditional shooter games, complete with physics.
