If you haven’t decided to buy your copy of Diablo III yet, or are perhaps a little short on cash after getting screwed over by GAME, Blizzard is giving you a chance to try out the sequel that was more than 10 years in the making before you buy it with Diablo III’s Starter Edition & Guest Pass. Similar to StarCraft II’s Starter Edition, the Diablo III version will allow you to play a limited amount of content for free with some restrictions on content that include:

  • Act I up to the Skeleton King is available
  • Level 13 cap

  • Matchmaking available only with other Starter Edition players

  • No Real Money Auction House access

How can you get this you ask? Unfortunately, you’ll need to have a friend that bought the game to slip you a Guest Pass, and then you can head over to the Battle.net website and download the Diablo III Starter Edition. This may change later, but for now, you’ll need the Guest Pass in order to get it.

While you wait for the servers to open up later tonight, have a look at our Diablo III class rundown and tell us which one you’ll be playing first.
