A guardian’s Sparrow is their primary means of transportation planetside, capable of high speeds and tight maneuvers unattainable by other vehicles. The downside of the craft is that they can only hold a single passenger, but since guardians tend to go it solo much of the time this restriction doesn’t pose a huge problem.

Much like everything else in Destiny there are also different tiers of Sparrow, which offer faster speeds, more maneuverability, fancier styling, and different color contrails. The rarest of these, the legendary and exotic Sparrows, can be difficult to claim but if you do manage to get your hands on them they offer one of the best rides in the solar system.

Legendary Sparrows

There are currently several different legendary Sparrows in Destiny, that all come with maximum durability along with their own perks and different color con trails.

EV-30 Tumbler

The tumbler is a hot rod inspired sparrow that can be acquired either by purchasing the Dark Below expansion, or the Destiny seasons pass.

The tumbler comes with several unique bonuses included a destabilizer that will allow you to perform rolls in mid air by pressing the right trigger. You can also do tricks by using the D-Pad. Successfully landing a trick will instantly refill your Sparrow’s boost meter.

XV0 TimeBreaker

This red and beige legendary Sparrow can be obtained by random drop off of Atheon in the Vault of Glass raid. The sparrow drops on both normal and heroic difficulty, although it may drop more often on heroic.

It comes equipped with overdrive (extra speed gained by pressing the brake and gas), and can strafe left and right much like the Fallen Pikes do.

S-13 GraveRobber

The black and green Sparrow takes on the colorings of the raid it comes from. Crotas End is the raid you will have to complete if you want to take home this prize. Not only that but the raid must be completed on hard mode as well.

Like the Timebreaker the sparrow comes with overdrive boost capability and can strafe like a Pike.

Upgrade a Rare Sparrow

In additional to the above sparrows that come legendary, you can also upgrade rare sparrows with parts from Xur to make them legendary and give them boosts to their speed/ durability and different color contrails. They wont however have access to the special abilities such as overdrive or destabalizers.

The upgrades you can equip your rare sparrows with are:

  • Emerald Coil – Green contrail while boosting
  • Plasma Drive – Improves Speed and Durability
  • Stealth Drive – Red contrail while boosting
  • Void Drive – Purple contrail while boosting
