Yesterday marked the closed beta launch for Landmark. Take notice of the shorter and less confusing name. With the launch of closed beta, SOE made the decision to remove the EverQuest Next part of the title, making it now just Landmark. The change was made due to some lingering confusion for many players that believed that the former EverQuest Next Landmark was the EverQuest Next MMORPG in development.

The alpha stage of Landmark was all about building, and build the community did.

"Alpha was an extraordinary time where the players blew us away with their creations at every turn," said Dave Georgeson, Director of Development for the EverQuest franchise. "Time and time again, players are discovering and building things with our tools in ways that we didn't even know were possible ... we simply cannot wait to see how Landmark evolves with the start of Closed Beta."

Senior Producer Terry Michaels has also posted a new Producer's Letter video, which you can see below. You can visit the Landmark website to learn more about the game or to sign up for the beta.

If you're curious to see some of the many community creations from the Landmark alpha, I've included the fan-made video below the Producer's Letter for your viewing pleasure.
