We've pulled out the opening extract from David's article below and if you'd like to carry on reading it, head on over to our Patreon: it costs as little as $1 per month to support Ten Ton Hammer.

Superheroes and video games go together very well, although many adaptions are made, some good, some bad, it’s been a long staple of the gaming industry. Hero MMOs have done rather well over time. City of Heroes still has a large community supporting it even after its sunset, while Champions Online and DC Universe continues to carry the superhero MMO torch. Games like Marvel Heroes and the various browser based Marvel games do very, very well for themselves.

However, in the list you’ll notice something odd – there isn’t any MMO designed around a specific slice of superhero lore. You don’t ever drilldown past one of the major studios. Marvel, DC, or superheroes at large are the only viable options for a superhero MMO and you know what, I think it’s a real shame.
