Rob Pardo promised an announcement and it was an enormous one.

It was either delay Starcraft II indefinitely or release three separate stand-alone single-player campaign products. Starcraft II players will initially be able to enjoy a 20+ mission Terran campaign titled, Terrans: Wings of Liberty, followed by Zerg: Heart of the Swarm and Protoss: Legacy of the Void.

The decision to ship the three single-player campaigns as separate products does not affect Starcraft II multiplayer, which will include fully implemented units for all three races.
