Have you ever imagined yourself as the href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dread_Pirate_Roberts"
target="_blank">Dread Pirate Roberts slashing your
enemies down with the slick edge of your rapier? Or perhaps you prefer
Johnny Depp's version of href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Sparrow" target="_blank">Captain
Jack Sparrow who beguiles his foes with witty banter.
Whichever pirate you enjoy, the developers at href="http://www.tentonhammer.com/taxonomy/term/52"
target="_blank">Pirates of the Burning Sea are
hoping to attract your attention with a brand-spanking new version of
their target="_blank">avatar combat system
that hopes to make you feel more like a hero and less like a zero. Ten
Ton Hammer caught up with lead designer Kevin Maginn to dive into the
details of this upcoming system revision!

As
any lead designer would hopefully suggest, Kevin isn’t
comfortable
with any part of the game being less than 100% and he believes that it
is his responsibility to make it better. But the change
couldn’t come
from Kevin alone, and almost the entire content and most of the QA team
is working on revising the missions that the combat system will impact.
Kevin noted that the work is being done “slowly and
carefully” and that
“it’s a monumental amount of work, but thankfully
the new system is
somewhat easier to tune, so content creation and revision can move a
bit faster than it used to. Even so, we’re going to be
working right
down to the finish line.”
