2.0 – The Very Light AQs (Multi-part Armor Quests)

The following Qeynos area AQ information is presented courtesy of

href="http://eq2.tentonhammer.com/index.php?module=ContentExpress&type=admin&func=editcontent&ceid=108">Okooo’s Illusionist Guide

, with my great thanks.

Each of the seven parts starts and ends in the Elddar Grove, near the Dojo in kind of a sand garden. The NPC is Gildas Cedartree.

Gildas Request I

Gildas first sends you out to Antonica to kill 15 rotstuffed scarecrows and 16 Necrosis conscripts.  The scarecrows are found at McQuibbles farm (loc -1742, -22, -98).  These spawn in both the solo and heroic variety.  The Necrosis conscripts are found outside the Condemned catacombs (loc -1062, -36, -1031), and also spawn as singles and heroics.

Before you begin, however, consider grabbing the Dwarven Workboots heritage quest as you can do the first part of this "HQ" simultaneously with the first "armor quest" (or AQ, for short). Check out this great insight from Marisol of Neriak:

"Empty out your bags and head over to Windstalker village killing any Caltorsis Magi you see on the way. You can also pick up the [Dwarven Workboots, or DWB for short] quest at the Ardent needle if need be, too.

South of Windstalker village are farmer fields that contain Earth Burrowers and Rotstuff Scarecrows. Kill the non-heroic scarecrows for the AQ (much easier) in the mean time harvest everything there and kill the earth burrowers while you harvest. If you run out there are giant bears and wolves that you can kill around the perimeter. Now here is the strategy: send your pet out to do your dirty work while your harvesting when battle starts (you hear the music change). Have the pet back off and then protect itself, that way when the loot chests start dropping you don't have to run far or you can heal you pet if needed. I gathered about 15 adept books (these books were 10s and 20s, only 3 were for a conjuror) in a short evening got all of my 100 ore, 100 wood and additional items to sell too.

The best items to horde while gathering are roots, iron, wood, pelts, vanilla and oranges (probably more items then this but I know I can sell this stuff easily). You will also find a ton of other loot items that you can sell from 2 to 6 silver; I made a few trips back and forth as I was getting so many loot chests. When you return the wood and iron to Hwal, you get to keep half of it and get some more experience, then CoQ back and sell what you have left. I price all the wood and ore and stuff at one silver and leave it at the house to sell along with the adept books that you don't need. Next time you visit you will have about 10-20 gold waiting for you. I price the adept books based on the level 11-17 ~1GP, 17-25 ~2GP (this might be high or low depending on your server but worked for me). And to top it all off: I found Blackened Iron ore x2, glowing stuff, and severed bone (Imbued, this will make a sweet Wand for the conjuror)... no silver though." [Thanks Marisol!]

Reward : Silver Touched gloves

  • +5 INT, +2 STR, +12 Health, +13 Power, +60 vs Divine, +120 vs Poison
  • AC 44

Gildas Request II

After completing the first quest, Gildas asks that you complete another task.  You will need to kill 12 granitescale basilisks (loc -1195, 11, -854), found just northeast of the Oracle Tower griffon station.  Slay Advisor Pandrus (loc -1369, -15, -691), found in the Ruins of Caltorsis.  Pandrus is a level 21 solo ^.  He's difficult to solo at level 20, but certainly far from impossible.  The last part is killing 6 Varsoon apprentices (-652, -3, +729) found just outside the Ruins of Varsoon in the Thundering Steppes.  These are all soloable mobs.

Reward : Silver Touched armband

  • +3 AGI, +4 WIS, +13 Health, +11 Power, +80 vs Disease, +100 vs Heat
  • AC 28

Gildas Request III

Kill 12 Defiled Torrents, kill 12 Gelatinous Masses, and kill 8 Guardian Writs.

Defiled Torrents can be found in Stormhold as well as the other mobs in this quest. They are around level 21-22 ^^ mobs down the large spiral stairs roaming the halls around the atrium. They wander around and are quite tough. Grab a group there; should be plenty of other people looking for these guys.

Gelatinous Masses are found in the room with the grate going to the library. As well as a few other rooms throughout Stormhold. 20ish ^^ mobs, bring a group.Guardian writs can be found in the library which is thru the grate from the ”Goos” as the Hammers Call them. These definitely need a group and a good one, they are aggressive and level 24ish and spawn in groups of two.

While you’re here, in the library you will see a knocked over bookcase, walk around the wall to the right you will see another line of bookcases with one knocked over.  If you look around this knocked over bookcase opposite the door, you will see a green book, if you inspect it you will get the skeleton mastery book. Handy if you like doing these type of things.

Reward : Silver Touched Boots

  • +4 STA, +4 AGI, +15 Health, +12 Power, +120 vs Magic, +60 vs Mental
  • AC 31

Gildas Request IV

Kill 12 Ire Minions, kill 12 Shrillers, and kill 20 Scarabs.

This AQ is located in the Crypt of Betrayal, located below the vermin snye which is below the down below which is below Qeynos (wow, pretty far underground!).Shrillers and Scarabs can be found right around the entrance with the merchants. I don’t recommend the ‘Wonky Entrance’ (south in VS) as its filled with aggro mobs. Zoning is safe so if you see merchant NPCs this is where you want to be. You should be able to pick up a group killing these mobs without much difficulty.  Ire Minions are a bit harder; they are located within the bowels of the dungeon.  For these guys I recommend a guild or close friend group, as it’s easy to get lost and die in a group of people you don’t know well.

Reward : Silver Touched Shawl

  • +4 STA, +4 WIS, +15 Health, +14 Power, +140 vs Cold, +40 vs Heat
  • AC 49

Gildas Request V

Kill 25 Steppes Beetles, kill 12 Steelhoof Invaders, kill 15 Animated Scarecrows, and kill 6 Fey Rock Heaps.

Thundering Steppes at last. Beetles will be found between Tower 2 and Thundermist Valley, as well as most of the other grassy locations in the zone. Kill grassland beetles as well because they are placeholders for the Steppes beetles. Steelhoof Invaders are really easy, people are always killing these for xp, just get in a group killing centaurs and you should be set. Animated Scarecrows are located near the north-western entrance from Antonica, follow the road until you get to tower 1 and you will find the fields to the west. Just pick up another group, these are popular for level 20’s just coming in from Antonica to kill for xp. Fey rock heaps are located in the dead river. I don’t remember the strength of these as I went with a paladin buddy and they were gray to him. I'd recommend a group though, after all, you are an Illusionist.

Reward : Silver Touched Leggings

  • +6 INT, +3 STR, +18 Health, +12 Power, +60 vs Cold, +140 vs Poison
  • AC 49 (51 @ 29)

Gildas Request VI

Kill 20 Varsoon Apprentices, kill 16 Corpse Feeders, kill 8 Sabertooth Chanters, kill Celeg Ixuri.

The last of the Armor quests! Also located in Thundering steppes. Corpse feeders can be found in the dead river, I'd recommend going onto the bridge on and getting off on one of the sides.  Before you get to the gates you can go down and find the Corpse Feeders (Crabs) and pull them up to the top to avoid adds. Kill other crabs as they are place holders.Sabertooth Chanters can be found in the crater near the griffins, Kill hunters and lookouts to get them to spawn. Time consuming but not too hard as a group.Varsoons apprentices can be found near the entrance to the ruins of varsoon. Don’t get too close though as you will spawn Celeg Ixuri, every time you approach the entrance he will spawn even if you’ve killed him already. Celeg is a level 24 skeleton ^^ with 2 level 24 scarecrow henchmen, this is definitely one to bring a group for. Return to Gildas and receive your final reward.

Reward : Silver Touched Robe

  • +5 AGI, +4 STR, +18 Health, +14 Power, +120 vs Disease, +80 vs Magic
  • AC 81 (88 @ 30)

2.1 – Other Quests

Check out these Heritage Quests that boast great items for Conjurers:

  • href="http://eq2.tentonhammer.com/index.php?module=ContentExpress&func=display&ceid=373&meid=145">Greater Lightstone - The Greater Lightstone offers +4 INT and +25 Power among other things; a neckpiece wearable at level 20.  This quest is lengthy and group intensive, but the reward is better than anything you'll find at the required level.  You'll replace it with the...
  • href="http://eq2.tentonhammer.com/index.php?module=ContentExpress&func=display&ceid=377&meid=145">Glowing Black Stone - The +8 INT +40 power necklace is something you'll keep for a long time!
  • href="http://eq2.tentonhammer.com/index.php?module=ContentExpress&func=display&ceid=498&meid=145">The Stein Of Moggok - +14 INT +36 Power for a symbol is tough to beat.
  • href="http://eq2.tentonhammer.com/index.php?module=ContentExpress&func=display&ceid=496&meid=145">Tobrin's Mystical Eyepatch - This headpiece grants "see invisible" and is +11 INT, +50 power.

Liandrin's Oracle Robe (Quest: Fine Silks for Sale)

Around level 27 or so, you'll probably want to start grouping in Varsoon.  This is a great quest for a pretty nice robe that you can do concurrently with "Book of Life" step for the href="http://eq2.tentonhammer.com/index.php?module=ContentExpress&func=display&ceid=377&meid=145">Strange Black Rock heritage quest.  In the Ruins of Varsoon's Weavemaster's area  (just outside where the Book of Life spawns, having a good map of Varsoon will help tremendously).  Examine the bolts of cloth you find there, I believe there's two different sets of quests.  You want "Fine Silks for Sale" and the instance of the quest that asks you to check Antonica or the Oracle Tower.

There are three instances; when I did the quest you could do the "Fine Silks" quest three times and get all the rewards, however folks are reporting that its a one and out gig now.  So, you'll probably want to keep deleting the quest until you get the Oracle Tower step (you may need to log out to reset the quest after deleting). Next, simply take a griffon to the Oracle Tower in Antonica, where you'll find Oracle Liandrin waiting with your new robe! (+5 INT, +18 Power).
