NCsoft premiered the "Visions
of Aion
" video this week giving players a sneak peek into the future of Aion.
The trailer features all sorts of promising content including the update to
Directx 10 support, player owned housing, under water playable zones.  We
also caught glimpses of potentially new classes, skills, or weapons, and player
mounts.  The Korean forums had this list of features translated, though I
don't believe it to be an official list, it is a nice summary of what the video
shows:

In the Community

The recent update including improvements to loot drops in dungeon
instances and players are wanting to know, did it help?  Are
you getting better drop rates with boss mobs?  Have instance
rewards finally made these dungeons worthwhile?

  • Swimming added

  • New underwater zones

  • More Quests

  • New Classes?

  • New Skills for existing classes

  • Revamped Combat

  • Improved graphics

  • Weather effects

  • Player housing

  • Mounts

  • Mounted combat

  • New weapons

  • Revamped Sieges

  • And More

It is certainly an impressive trailer and even though the lack of information
that came with it dampened the spirits of players who are looking for a reason
to stay, in the least it is showing that their is hope that Aion will be
able to pull through this fog of disappointment over the botting problem and the
grind that threatens the success of this Asian crossover.

The trailer promises new underwater
excitement!

I would have liked to see a bit more of what the team is working on and perhaps
a hard list of features and a ballpark ETA on when we will see this update.
Is it free additional content?  An expansion?  Are we months away or a
year or more?  The rumor has been that it is an expansion and is a year
out, however we were unable to secure any official word on the matter.

In the least we know that NCsoft is committed to making their surprise hit a
long lasting contender in the western market.  With recent mass bot bans,
and a revitalized community team that is working harder than ever to connect
with their fans, it is refreshing to see a game work so hard to cater to the
needs of the players.  Lets just hope it's enough to overcome the game's
shortcomings.

With the assault on bots in full throttle, the occasional
innocent will inevitably get caught in the crossfire.  You may not be
botting, but remember that add-ons and modifications that are popular with other
games such as WoW, EQ2, AoC, and WAR are never allowed in Aion and can earn you
a ban.

If you do find yourself banned and how no idea why, your best
course of action is to contact NCsoft through the appropriate channels and
petition to have your game account restored.  NCsoft phone support can
found at this number Mon-Fri 12pm to 5pm, Central: 1-512-225-6359 and you can
