Blizzard announced a little while ago that in Cataclysm it will be changing World of Warcraft raids from the huge 10-12 boss multi-night raids that we have seen lately to smaller more accessible raids.  No longer will the entire tier of raid gear be available in one huge raid, instead it will be split across several smaller raids. What will all this mean for World of Warcraft players?  Byron “Messiah” Mudry takes a look at the question: will smaller raids equal more fun for more players?

Other hardcore raiders are looking at this change as a potential boom for raiding.  If raids are shorter and easier to produce, instead of seeing as few as we currently do in an expansion cycle maybe we will see many more.  Wouldn’t it be nice to see a new 4-5 boss raid every 4-8 weeks instead of a single 10-12 boss raid every 6 months?  That is the dream that many hardcore players have; continuous new content.
