If we've learned anything over the years its that MMOGs are not cheap to make. But some games like Rift: Planes of Telara tend to be a bit more expensive as the developers try to put together an enticing product with plenty of features to draw players in and keep them playing. Trion Worlds CEO Lars Butler recently told Develop that the price tag attached to Rift: Planes of Telara has already exceeded the $50 million mark, making the title a very ambitious project.

However, ambitious projects with a hefty price tag litter the road of MMOG history and while Rift: Planes of Telara looks promising, the big budget does not instantly make it a success. Will this one be one of the few that ascends beyond its launch, or will it be another victim of mediocrity and fall by the wayside? Tell us what you think.
