The abrupt closing of APB (All Points Bulletin) by Realtime Worlds left more than a few fans disgruntled and seeking a refund only to find that they may be out of luck. While Valve, one of APB's digital distributors, isn't too keen on offering refunds, there is, however, a bit of a silver lining to this story because Electronic Arts is reportedly providing some players that purchased the digital copy of APB with a free game from its library as compensation and in some cases offering a cash refund. Unfortunately, owners of the physical copy of the game may not be so lucky. According to Gamasutra, Paul Dounis, Joint Administrator of Begbies Traynor for Realtime Worlds, has stated that players seeking a refund would need to return the game where it was purchased, but according to the Steam thread, some players (not all) are receiving some form of reimbursements for their APB purchase. The article also notes that, “APB was a subscription-based service and any players who made longer-term one-off payments or any in-game purchases have lost their investment, in addition to the initial cost of the game."
