GameSnafu recently managed to lure some of Funcom's team working on The Secret World out of their super secret cave to talk a little bit about the conspiracy-based MMOG. While Funcom is remaining relatively tight-lipped about the game still, the team did tease some juicy new details such as the sabotage missions, which Lead Content Designer Joel Bylos compares to the gameplay of the original Deus Ex game in which players will have to avoid security cameras, hack computers and even disable traps.

Actually we have a mission type called Sabotage which we haven’t spoken a lot about yet. These missions share a similar gameplay style to the original Deus Ex game – avoiding security cameras, disabling traps and hacking computers etc. Generally the traps are dynamic only in the sense that players can disable/enable them in the world. This becomes interesting when other players can accidentally trigger an alarm in the camp you are sneaking through!

The interview also offers some insight into how PvP and PvE death penalties will differ. Unfortunately, Funcom only gave a brief description of how they will differ without the specifics of how they will function. But the addition of in-game fight clubs to hubs will make an interesting mix for PvP fans, especially since each faction can muscle in and take over the others.
