Creative Director Matt Higby recently chatted with PC Gamer about several features and options for Sony Online EntertainmentÂs (SOE) upcoming MMOFPS, PlanetSide 2. During the interview, Higby touched on the subject of progression, which players can continue gaining skills for their characters online faster or by queuing them up to learn while offline. This helps unlock a number of new benefits like learning skills to attach different weapons to a tank for example.
The Vanguard has a ton of unlocks: different side-graded weapons that allow me to do things situationally. I might want a flak cannon on top because thereÂs a lot of aircraft in my area of combat. A new Vanguard driver wonÂt necessarily have access to all the different kinds of armour and countermeasures  all the different kinds of telemetry and radar systems that someone whoÂs been playing a Vanguard for a really long time has unlocked.
Higby emphasized the importance of resources in PlanetSide 2 and how they can be used to further advancement. Of course, you need to control territories to get them.
SOE also plans to include a subscription option for the free-to-play title, which will provide subscribers with Âpremium features. We'll have to wait until a bit later to find out what those features will be.
