Welcome back!  This is the 97th attempt at this column.

That’s a lot of your time well-wasted.

There are 97 different characters on a standard English keyboard.  In 97 AD human sacrifice was outlawed in the Roman empire.

I’m John Hoskin and I’ll be your MMOG guide today.

“A bank is a place where they lend you an umbrella in fair weather and ask for it back when it begins to rain.” – Robert Frost

Everyone can use a feel good moment to start the day.   Let’s go with this…

Thanks for taking some time out of your day to read this column.  I truly appreciate it.    If you happen to use Twitter, you can follow me @BoomjackTTH.   I rarely use Facebook, but I do occasionally post gaming related tidbits on Google+ where you can find me under my real moniker John Hoskin.

It’s 6:00 am, pouring rain, lightning and for a moment I wonder why we don’t have more weather in our virtual worlds.  Developers make every attempt to get the rest spot on, but weather is an after-thought.   Suddenly my coffee kicks in and I come back to the realization that weather is no damn fun.   Why put something in that detracts from the gameplay?   Thanks devs for keeping me dry, warm and not requiring my monitor to have window wipers!   Hats off to you!

If you follow me on Google+ or Twitter you got to see this bright and early.  If not, take the jump, it will be worth it.

Funny stuff.  If you know where it came from originally please let me know.

Ready for a break until SWTOR arrives or just tired of your current game?  Our Dungeon Defenders review is up.   I’m not a big tower defense fan, but the genre seem to be migrating from smartphone to PC faster than a man can turn off The View.

World of Tanks has become an enormous hit and now the World of Warplanes Official Forum has launched.  Be one of the first to post and let them know that TenTonHammer sent you!

Sad faces all around the industry as CCP, the developer of EVE Online announced that at least 100 staff were let go.  The game itself has more subscribers than ever before, but with the company working on multiple projects it found itself stretched too thin.

Origin, EA’s online service, also referred to by many as a veritable cluster@#$% has reached five million daily users in under five months.  Expect that number to spike when SWTOR releases later this year.

Wondering why EA and Steam were having issues?  Now you know.

That’s it for today.  Thanks again for reading and as always, may your dreams be big and your worries be small. “

For a few weeks now we've been cleaning out our closets and giving away a bunch of crap we've collected at gaming conventions to our premium members. Why? Because we like them, and because this crap is actually cool.

This week we're giving away a bunch of game codes from Paradox Interactive PC titles that'll take you from exploring the lost age of chivalry in the King Arthur Collection to fending off zombie pirates as Woody Two-Legs. How's that for diversity?

One winner will be chosen at random to receive:
