Welcome back to our 85th attempt at Reloading...

At age 85 Tony Bennett has become the oldest living performer to score a US number one album on Billboard 200.

I’m John Hoskin and I’ve never had an album on the Billboard 200 though I have bought music on vinyl.

“An advertising agency is 85 percent confusion and 15 percent commission.” – Fred Allen

Everyone can use a feel good moment to start the day.   Let’s go with this…

Thanks for taking some time out of your day to read this column.  I truly appreciate it.    If you happen to use Twitter, you can follow me @BoomjackTTH.   I rarely use Facebook, but I do occasionally post gaming related tidbits on Google+ where you can find me under my real moniker John Hoskin.

Just a reminder that it will take me a day or so to get through the truckload of Google+ requests and put you into the appropriate circles.  I promise I’ll get to everyone. I also promise that is you start spamming me with invites to games I don’t want to play or asking me to shear your sheep in GFarmVille or some such nonsense that I’ll find a very special circle for you. ;)

I received some interesting emails regarding the cancelation of the World of Warcraft magazine.

“Yes, I was subscribed, and as a casual player I was more interested in the articles than most people I guess. The art was great.

I did the same thing regarding the refund: I offered my wife the 6 pets (which happened to be a much better deal in Europe than in USA, because of the way Blizzard translated the price into the euro currency ;-)

BTW it's a fine newsletter you're making. Thanks a lot.“ – Martin

Thanks for the kind words Martin.  My wife and kids got the pets in my house.

“ I didn't subscribe to the magazine because I didn't believe it would be beneficial to me. However, I am very surprised that the magazine was cancelled. My sister and brother both still actively play the game, and I used to, as well, but the recent expansion pack made it incredibly dull for me overall because of how easy it is to get the best gear. That said, I am pretty much laughing about the cancellation, and I hope that Diablo 3's launch date gets pushed back again just so I can laugh at all of the idiots waiting to play such an awfully designed game. Legal RMT? Bad news.“ – Possat

The RMT issue is a hot topic that we have discussed before.  I have a D3 beta invite, but I have not had a chance to check out the game.  Put it on my list somewhere behind Space Marine and Gears of War 3.  Too many games to look at is a good problem to have I suppose. ;)

“Pissed off? Yes i am i paid my coin for a service no rendered by blizzard. this is not blizzards first fail, i just hope i don't have a next with those flakes.  the virtual pets are a crock for being a fair trade to real money which you where given. "i smell class action". it has been done for a lot less coin involved.

Oh well, Rift will hold me till TOR gets launched in dec and then its GW2 if bioware is just a blizzard in a space suit.

Pay the piper“ – Howard

For what it is worth, Blizzard offered a refund or the vanity pets.  I just happened to choose the pets.

There was a lot of hate directed at Blizzard in the email I received yesterday, but most of it was not related to the magazine.   The cancelation just happened to be an opportunity for people to vent.  I am still enjoying World of Warcaft and StarCraft II, though I do hope that SWTOR (SWEATERS under the tree for Christmas) lives up to the hype.

I have a lot of investment in WoW and changing ships will not be an easy decision, but if there is a better game out there then I am sure I will end up christening it and pulling out to sea. Until then, I need to gear my eleventy-first alt character since Patch 4.3 is now up on the Public Test Realm.

That’s it for today.  Thanks again for reading and as always, may your dreams be big and your worries be small. “

As always, you can contact me a number of ways:

  • Email
  • Twitter
  • Website
  • Telepathy (Just make sure it’s during business hours.  I hate to be woken by this stuff)

Until we meet again,

John “Boomjack” Hoskin
