Earlier this year Jagex gave players a chance to vote on bringing back classic RuneScape with an Old School server. Over 450k players voted to have the server created, meeting Jagex’s goal to do so and even grant the server its own small development team to create new content that would evolve it differently from current RuneScape servers. The server has since grown to more than 1 million players. And today, some of its new content has arrived.

“Seeing RuneScape Old School hit the million player mark so soon after launch is a great milestone for the game and our players have joined the celebration by voting for the game’s most epic update to date,” commented Phil Mansell, RuneScape’s Executive Producer. “Players will need to be steadfast and defiant in order to win through and defeat the gods, but if successful, players will be rewarded beyond their wildest imagination. It is the ultimate game of seeking treasure or die trying – something RuneScape has grown famous for.”

Jagex recently gave players another chance to vote for the server’s content and 89% of players chose to usher in a new era of boss hunting with the introduction of the Gods War Dungeon. The new dungeon features four new bosses (K’ril Tsutsaroth, Commander Zilyana, General Graardor and Kree’arra), which players can try to take down for rewards that include the legendary Godsword, considered to be the most powerful weapon in Old School RuneScape.

You can get a glimpse at the new dungeon in the video below. Visit the Old School RuneScape site to start playing.
