The Repopulation is a game that has managed to stay under our radar for a while, but we learned a little more about the game today when developer Above and Beyond Technologies revealed their first teaser trailer and a few more details about the features and the combination of sandbox and theme park ideas the developer is utilizing to help shape the game world.
The Repopulation is a sci-fi MMOG that takes place on the fictional world of Rhyldan, where players will start their journey as a second generation clone colonist. Mankind is on the verge of extinction and a civil war is raging between the games three factions. Players will have the option to choose which of the factions they want to support and then fight to claim fame and land from the other factions and PvP combat.
Players can construct their own cities with defensive structures and buildings. Those same cities can be sieged by enemy factions, so players will need to keep their guard up to avoid having all their hard work reduced to smoldering ash by a few PvP hungry clones. The Repopulation also has a dynamic content system similar to that of RIFTs invasion system called Engagements but with a bit of a twist. The randomly occurring events in The Repopulation can evolve, mutate and spread based on how players react to them. Players taking part in the events will be eligible for rewards.
The game has a number of other potentially interesting features such as generated boss abilities, which allows enemy bosses to select different abilities based on their difficulty tier and species, forcing groups to adjust tactics on the fly, exploration and vehicle systems, two combat modes and more.
