The Secret World's Ragnar Tørnquist previews combat, missions and even offers a spoiler or two for Funcom's upcoming Lovecraftian MMOG.

PC Gamer recently had the chance to preview The Secret World (TSW) with Creative Director Ragnar Tørnquist. Delving more into the conspiracy and mythological-based MMOG reveals more about some of the game’s skill advancement mechanics, and some of the things that inspired Tørnquist that even he feels he delved to deep in the exploration of.

For those interested in solving puzzles, TSW will have no shortage. One of the things Tørnquist discussed with PC Gamer is the “Investigative Missions” in TSW. These require players to sometimes do a little research to find the answer to, which Tørnquist offered an example of one puzzle that players can solve with a little in-game investigative work and one that required some external research.

Investigation missions are about solving puzzles and digging deeper into the mysteries of the world. We’re not trying to create arbitrary puzzles in a world: presenting you with sliding blocks or something.
